It's time to replace the oh so common warped rotors on my 2k2 max. I do not want to buy factory replacements as they seem to warp w/i six months to a year according to the other war stories on this model.
My mechanic tells me that the chinese made rotors warp easily and I should go with more expensive american made. Not sure what brands are American made. For some reason the "Brembo's" which are made in Italy seem to be mentioned in most sport's car forums. The question is for you all who've upgraded from factory rotors, which rotors/pads did you go with and would you buy them again?

No such thing as long lasting but, the aftermarket ones will last longer than stock but eventually will warp. Brembo makes a good rotor.

Carefull driving and good break in will make them last longer, and avoid puddles after braking.

 

Brembo does not make rotors for the 2k2/3 for the front as of now. Try Irotors, they have a decent deal for the front/rear on ebay.

i know frozen rotors are great, but they are pretty expensive..... a friend on the org gave me this website for 2003 BREMBO BLANKS for 56.99 each. Its pretty good IMHO.

I have one question though, the front would wear more, so can i change the front rotors then the rear later.... or should i just change them both at the same time?

 

change the front only! no need to change the whole system. Rear's last atleast twice as long. thank mr.frontwheeldrive.

I also picked up a set of front and rear x-drilled and slotted black zinc coated rotors from www.iRotors.com. No complaints as of yet (1k miles roughly).

 

Got mine from "maxed up" here no the .org. Cross-drilled/slotted. Got a pair for not much over $100. Pics on my cardomain...

If buying from Irotor, select the option you want then write to them what year your car is....or look on ebay...they have them there.

 

Hey triple, can you give me that persons contact info. I actually want to get a pair of front 2003 rotors. Slotted only though.

 

Pad selection is at least as important as rotor selection.
Keep in mind, it is not that the rotors actually warp, the problem is material from the pads transfering to the rotor and fusing there. If you get higher temp pads, that problem is reduced as well.
I went to Hawk HP pads with brembo blanks and I have been very happy even for the occasional autocross.

I just installed Hawk HPS with OEM rotors in my '02. Right now it feel great but I have to wait and see how this combination performs in the long term.
