i was wondering what kind of benefits i would see if any if i hooked up a
S-AFCII on a 95 max 5spd. i tried looking around but couldnt really find anything.

You don't need it unless your boosting

 

there are benifits, you can adjust your air/ fuel to the optimal mixture about 13:1 for N/A and for $265 that's not bad. you could get the JWT ECU which does the same thing and also rasies the rev limit. for $595 and have the option to take full advantage for MEVI.
Personally i am going to get a SAFC II my car runs rich and if i lean it out a bit i can pick up some HP maybe 8-10whp.
also you get the bling/vtec rice factor.

 

absolutely nothing if you are doing NA.

if you are doing FI then get it.

 

I advise you to save for the JWT ECU upgrade!!! That's power you smile after installing it...plus its expandable power with the MEVI will actually make you crap due to the happieness....good luck though

 

I really want a JWT ECU, but not before I go boost, otherwise I have to pay for it twice. I'm saving up for a PFI turbo kit with ballbearing turbo upgrade Then I will go with a JWT ECU with in it a turbo programm... Planning to go run 10 PSI of boost on stock internals with JWT ECU, MEVI I allready have, also 370cc injectors and Z32 MAF will be in the package and I will get a ECU from JWT that is programmed to accomodate all these mods... then I will be making serious power, don't you think?

 

Not really twice. You pay $600 (and have to wait 6-10 weeks) for the initial reprogramming (which includes removing the oem chip and installing a different one). After that, it's $100 and a week or two to have the program changed.

And yes, you should be well into the 300 hp club.

 

So Stephen, do you feel the SAFC gives gains to NA vehicles?
I have heard many issues regarding this and am confused on whos right.

 

Minor gains at best. Like somebody else said, it would be better to save up for a JWT ecu.

That being said, I like having one even though I'm not using it for tuning. It's useful for stuff like checking what your max air flow and rpm was after a run. You can use it for adjusting your TPS, too (if you ever need to).

 

My 96max took off .490 almost half a second off my 1/4 times on average NA with the help of the SAFC II. But as of right now I'm in the middle of swapping motors to a 5thgen and will be spraying it with T/ECU now I can finally see what the SAFC II can really do. Not bad gains for $290.
