winning noise near TB (2k2)

My friend new Maxima 2002 (6spd, 45K miles) does a strange winning noise near the TB.
If seem to come between the firewall and engine from the driver side.
The noise get worst if you rev it a bit!

Anybody has already have this problem!

I've do a quick search on the 20 first page, but nothing that point me to something!

thanks!

winning? who's winning? OH... you mean WHINING noise....

does the noise go away after a certain amount of time? does the car start up normally? any more info would be helpful...

here's a long shot... maybe the starter isn't disengaging after the car is started... that would leave the pinion engaged with the flywheel/flex plate and make a horrible noise!

the car start fine and run great!

It doesn't seem to me that it's the starter not disengaging, but I'll check though!

After 3,5-4KRPM it seem to go away a bit, maybe just the engine sound is louder than this sound!

I know the exact same sound you're talking about! I've had that for a good 10,000 miles, but have no idea how it started. Car runs great, when you rev it, it gets a little louder, then goes away after 3-4k RPM. Also, sometimes i'll just cruise at like 5mph w/ windows down, and it makes a steady, soft whine. I hope someone knows that this is??
