Vg Breathing Issues - How to add some top end
Vg Breathing Issues - How to add some top end
So I completed my 5spd Swap about a month ago. Everything is running great and I'm really enjoying the car. However, now that the car has a manual I'm driving it much harder than how I drove when it was an automatic.
With the way I'm driving now, I really notice how little top end grunt the VG has. Sure I appreciate the power in the mid range but there's almost nothing up top. It feels like the car is choking for air. I already have a full exhaust system and a pop charger. What are some mods that would open up the top end some more?
UDP?
Port & Polish?
Ported TB?
CAI?
ECU?

from what I've seen the ported head and some moderate cams like the Nismos pick up about 12hp+ or so, but the top end is much more peppy...I still think my mod list above is a better choice though. the VG is lost without boost or juice

Personally I think VG's would gain more top end if they ported the hell out of that plate thing that the upper intake bolts to, aswell as the throttle body.
You should clarify as the VG 5-sp should be able to hang with a VE 5-sp in first gear. But the thing is the VG will have to shift before the VE in every gear. So the VE would pull a bit in first until the 1st shift. Then the same thing again in 2nd (but the pull gets worse for the VG). By the time the incident gets into mid-3rd gear, it's hazards time

Maybe Anton should port/polish/cams/get a y-pipe and then he can get a little closer....
so far the best top end mod i've found is a turbo
the intake would be something interesting to mess with. supposedly the best flowing intake is the earlier pathfinder intake. not sure if that would help the top end as much as something like cams and such but it would be interesting to try. my pathy intake just came in recently so i'm going to start trying to figure out how to put this thing on without cutting up too many things
