I think I broke her

I was driving last Friday night through some coutry roads around Fox Lake, IL. There was some construction going on and I hit a pot hole at about 20 mhp. It was a hard hit, my wife thought we broke something. I got out to check the demage, and everything looked good. I drove the car on the express way yesterday and the wheel shakes at around 60 mph and up. I checked the tire pressure and it was good. What do you guys think that could be. My first guess was bent rim, but if you hit hard enough to bend the rim air should leak out on impact. Please share your thoughts.

Its more than likely bent, it doesnt always bend it enough to let the air out. Your alignment could be off too.

I guess it doesn't take much to bend a rim if your tire are so small.

I'm hoping it isn't a bent rim!

It's a bent wheel. I hit a wicked pothole on a dark road many years ago and it bent both of the wheels on the right side of my car. I had to get them repaired. The car couldn't be driven over about 40mph on the way to the wheel shop because of the vibration. But the air never leaked out. The wheels were as good as new once repaired, but it cost many pesos.

Could be a rim, but it could also be a tie rod. I did something very similar but at a higher speed and had to replace tire, rim, and tie rod. Check your alignment.

could just be one of the weights on the tire came off and it needs to be balanced. you should first try having all four tires balanced and aligned because this will left you know if anything is bent or out of spec. good luck and nice car

Thanks for the replies. I will take it in to get the wheels balanced and check the alignment, and keep my fingers crossed.

It was a bent rim. The new owner (my friend) just order a new rim.
