Back to using NGKs
I took out my iridiums and put the NGKs in just for S&G purposes, and I'm stickin with em. I also tried some Bosch platinums that were given to me by my mom, she had a new set layin around from before she wrecked her 200SX. here's basically what I've concluded.
Bosch: Good acceleration and speed, but there's a lot of spark knock when the cheap gas is used. everyone's told me that Bosch plugs are junk (and I can verify that after putting the platinum 2s in my max and having basically no performance)
Denso Iridiums: Awesome acceleration, no spark knock, but top speed (in a 4-cyl) isn't all that great.
NGK V-powers: Smooth idle, good acceleration in any gear at any speed, and good low-speed recovery (like when you go too slow for any given gear and usually have to downshift). also, best gas mileage of the three.
of course this is different for every car, but the NGKs seem to be a good all-around plug for this car. and basically, nissans in general. it idles so smooth and quiet I can't even hear her running, except for the !?#*&$% heat shield. that's next though. I paid about $1.92 for them from a local nissan dealer, compared to fisher's $1.99 apiece, and auto zone's $4.20 apiece, special ordered. it's odd when a dealer's price is the best around. is there another chain that sells the NGKs? with my next plug change, I may consider NGK platinums if they come recommended in this forum.
but until then, I'll keep the iridiums around for "special occasions"...

also, can someone recommend a good cap, rotor and plug wires? I've been swearing by OEM parts but if I get those from a dealer, I may as well bend over and grab the KY. we sell Wells at auto zone, as well as a Conrad cap and rotor kit which has brass contacts in the cap and on the rotor. with the fisher discount I can get borg-warner parts.. but I dunno, I want what's best.
