"Nissan Long Life" vs "Nissan Genuine Antifreeze"

Is there a difference between Nissan Long Life Antifreeze and Nissan Genuine Antifreeze?

I have a 2001 Maxima. The manual says to use "Nissan Genuine Antifreeze". I know that the newer manuals say to use Nissan Long Life Antifreeze. Are they the same? It looks like the antifreeze my car came with is red. Is that long life? I plan to do a radiator flush without draining the engine block, so I don't think it is good to mix different kinds of antifreeze.

I went to the dealer and they only sell Nissan Long Life Antifreeze and Shell antifreeze, so I bought the Nissan Long Life.

I posted this to the Fluids and Lubricants newsgroup, but since it applies to a 2001 Maxima, maybe more people who read this newsgroup can help me.

Don't know the difference between the two, except that our cars require a coolant that doesn't use silicates. Something about the silicates wearing out the water pump bearing. I'll bet you'll be fine with either, its probably just been renamed.

Note: sand & glass are silicates.. maybe it is very fine abrasive in a silicate based coolants.

$5 at my local stealerships! They want $24 for genuine and $29 fro LL. The other difference is that the label on the "genuine" says that it comes out of a CCI Mft'ing plant in Lemont, Illinios whereas the "long life" label does not identify the place of origin. I have a gallon of each in my garage and the rear labels are almost identical...each say no silicates, borates, amines. I'd use either with confidence. Good stuff. There are no after-market ethylene glycol based equivalents available that you could substitue for a lower price. It is the only outrageously priced Nissan part I will pay for. Unless you want to use Toyota antifreeze...also an ethelyne glycol based si/bo/am free antifreeze. But it's red in color, not green, which probably accounts for the $10-15 cheaper price than Nissan!!!!!
