i was thinking of getting an aftermarket TC, and ive heard that it gives the tranny more power throughout mostly the low RPMS, better launches, etc. I have a 97 auto with stage 2 VB mod and tranny cooler. However are there any downsides to having a TC installed? can it be harmful to the tranny? what other positive aspects can expect out it? gains? and also how much can i expect to spend on one, the part and the labor?
BTW, i live in NYC and im not going for a 5 speed conversion as i dont have that type of money nor do i want to be stuck with the hassle of driving one in traffic, ive borrowed my uncles 5 speed for some weekends and yes, its fun to drive but it gets annoying after a while and i cant see myself doing it for long. A friend of mine told me an aftermarket TC can give me the launch and low RPM pull similar to that of a 5 speed, true or not?

 

with the vb mod alone your car guarantess to shift faster than ne 5 spd thats what i heard. no a aftermarket TC is better becasue it can handle more pressure than stock. i would definitley get one after my vb mod. it cost about 364 i think. btw my dad was talkin to a nissan engineering and he said that the secret to nissans auto trannys were the vb mod. it really does help
