TEIN COILOVERS MAKING NOISE >>>

Well I got my teins on the other weekend and of course the holes that you use to bolt it on to the car were too small for the bolts to fit SO we had to drill them out a little to get them on ... But it worked fine I guess. It rides hella good and I love the adjustable feature .. So the point is when I first drive out with my car when I take a turn or go over something a little bumpy I hear my suspension in the front making noise like a Clanking noise. Sorta like the spring hitting something.. It does it usually when I first start driving the car and harsh bumps so not really often I dont know if thats normal or not... Anyone?

mine does the same thing, but i am on the tockico lowering kit. It usually does it at the bottom of my driveway where there is a bump and i have to turn the wheel. I think it is the spring setting in the strut considering that the front struts rotate with the wheels... just a guess.. anyone else got any ideas.????

LOLZ, i think everyone with the Tein coilover setup for the maxima's have the same exact problem. i have the same noise also coming from the suspension. i emailed tein, and they of course gave me some stupid bs. and also told them about the hole being too small and they said that i might have gotten the only one that had that problem. apparently not!!! everyone with the teins in their maxima's were the same.
i think everyone here on the org with teins, we should all write to tein, and they should do something for us. replace them and install them for us including alignment.
geez. so much for tein huh?
but i love the ride and everything, the noise is the only thing that annoys me still!@

BUt at least I do love them as they are hehe the ride is dope ! Let me know if theres any ideas

metal hitting metal= clanking noise

plastic stuff between metal and metal= no more clanking noise

I wrapped my illumina kit and no clanking noise. The only thing that worries me is on the rear the 4 top spirals are so close together, putting the spiral wrap on it seems like its taking some of the suspension travel away...oh well hope not.

I think I was the first to have the kit on maxima.org, and I have to say, I don't have this problem. I had the problem at first, but after I noticed that the top bolt on the strut has to be at 48-54 ft lbs, and I tightened it, I dont have that problem anymore. This could be a different thing all together, but I'm not having the issue.

the spiral wrap, can be put on the springs without removing the whole assembly right? or is it a wrap that you have to put on the spring by removing everything and fitting it in from one end?

<-- my D2's make noise too. I tried white lithium grease .. . didnt help much, next step is silicone spray. Wrapping the spring would require that I take the coilovers appart, Im gonna try to avoid that.

So is the consensus that all aftermarket suspension whether it is shocks + lowering springs combo or high-end coilovers make noise? Is the Wal-Mart tubing the sure-fire magic bullet to stop the metal to metal clanking? Next year's big purchase will be suspension so all of your expertise is appreciated.

you might be able to get away with putting tubing on around the rears with the suspension still on...but spiral wrap woluld take a long time...i mean it could be done but i had a hard time putting that crap on with the spring sitting around by itself.
