Group Buy deal on some Place Racing Cold Air Intakes!!

Group Buy for Place Racing cold air intakes.

Hi my name is Greg, AKA NismoMaximaGTR (NismoMaximaGTR@yahoo.com), and I’d like to get a group buy together for some Place Racing CAI’s. We need a minimum of 10 buyers to make this happen. Here are the details:

• Product: Place Racing CAIs for ALL 91-04 Sentras and 200SXs (1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and 2.5L engines), all 93-01 Altimas and 02+ Altima V6s, ALL 89-03 Maximas.
• 3" mandrel-bent tubing, w/ vivid silver, red, blue or yellow powdercoat finishes.
• Monsterflow filter w/ internal velocity stack (K&N filters also available); the airflow is equal or better than any filter made
• GB begins immediately, ends 30 November 2004
• Minimum number: 10 units
• Maximum number: there are plenty
• Price: $129/unit for colors and $135/unit for silver if paid by MO; add $5 if paid by credit card or PayPal.
• Shipping: FREE shipping via UPS in the continental US, $25 via USPS to Canada, HI, PR and AK. Orders will begin shipping once the minimum number has been received and will be shipped once per week thereafter.
• Payment: Money orders, PayPal or Credit Cards. Note all credit card, Paypal, or money order will not be charged or cashed until the orders have been consolidated for shipping.
• Monsterflow tackifier spray (this is critical, there is no substitute) and cleaner need to be used every 10-15k miles to maintain the filter's filtration and flow capabilities; kits with cleaner and tackifier spray are available for an additional $20.

Payment information:

If paying by money order please make it payable to “Cattman Performance or <your name>”. For example if I were paying by money order I would make it payable to “Cattman Performace or Greg Nanez” (so it can be cashed if returned to the customer). All credit card orders call 1-800-759-9920, open 8-5 MST, M-F - you have to mention the CAI Group Buy. If you want to pay with Paypal, write to me for the account address.
Be sure to include all of the information below if you pay with a money order or through PayPal so there aren’t any mixups (if you call in a CC order, we’ll ask these questions):

• Your name, your address, shipping address if different, at least one phone number, and your email address.
• model, trim type (like an SE or SER) and year of car
• engine size (doesn't matter in the case of 93-01 Altimas and 95-03 Maximas)
• 1st and 2nd choice for color of intake
• these specifications will tell us which part to send, with one exception - if the car is a 1993 Sentra SER (2.0 litre motor), we need to know if it has a "high or low throttle body".

Please send money orders to this address:

Great prices for sure

Greg really twisted my arm to get this great deal, and I can state as a fact that Place Racing CAIs have never been offered at $129 or anything close to it - they are regularly $225-230.

Although these are my own humble opinions, I will say with confidence that:

1. There is no more effective Cold Air Intake, or intake of any kind, made for the Maxima. This is particularly well proven at the track.
2. There is no filter that performs better than the Monsterflow (the Miata guys snap these up at $75/each).

The PR style of CAI is the only true CAI for the Maxima - if the filter's in the engine compartment its not a CAI (and you won't get the same results) whether its called one or not. This type of CAI locates the filter in the forward fender compartment, the only accessible place to get the coolest and cleanest air, separated from the road splash, dust and bouncing debris that long-tube underhood intakes are exposed to.

So if i were to buy one and put it in a 91, i would be able to take it out and put it in a 95' when i get a new car? I've never seen a CAI for all maxima's 89-03 so i was just wonderinb before i buy. Or is it a diffferent one for the appropriate year? Sorry if this is a dumb question. Just want to clarify. GREAT DEAL.

No. Place Racing has separate CAI designs for the VG, VE, and various VQ's.

You cannot put a VG30 CAI from a gen3 into a gen4 or gen5, and vice versa.

Here's one of the original prototypes about 2 years ago after it was refinished by the owner. (the original prototypes didn't get the nice powdercoat that PR does now. )

I am thinking to get an intake; but very afraid about sucking water with this one on raining or snowing days or driving thru flooded corners which are common in my area; what are the chances of sucking water? do they have a bypass to avoid hydro... the motor? do somebody has a picture with the location of the filter installed? do you have to remove it in the winter in NY?
I would really like to get this one, because seems to be the best CAI plus the price is great too.
If problems with this one, may have no choice but to get the short ram hybrid intake.

I had the same questions before I bought mine. I thought I was going to suck up water, But then I measured how high the intake was from the ground. I was surprised. The filter sits higher up than the bottom of my Maximas doors. So, if I went into some water or ditch I will get water in the inside of my car before any gets sucked up into the engine. Also, if your really paranoid about sucking up water into your engine or if you want to have a short ram, than you can always convert the Place Racing CAI into a short ram intake. All you have to do is take off the lower tubing and attach the filter to MAF (Mass air flow sensor) with the adapter and your good to go. So basically, when you buy the Place Racing CAI you're getting a CAI and a short ram intake for the price of one. (especially with this group deal goin).

Quick question or two. Hole needs to be drilled for the filter to be placed outside of the engine compartment, how hard is it to drill the hole? Once in place, how do you get to the filter to remove/clean it? LMK. Thanks.

The hole is pretty easy to make. Just make it big enough so that you filter can easily go in an out. I did it myself with some basic home power tools. There alot of different places on the internet that have great detailed instructions how to install one. I think

I have a question about the cai for a 95 max. I have a sensor attached to the air box. I think it is the air temp sensor. does the place racing intake take car of that or do i need to modify it to make it work.

The filter part is installed outside the engine compartment, so you've got to drill a hole in the fender next to the battery. I'm not sure how easy it is to get access to it for removal and cleaning. Is there enough room to just pull it out for cleaning, or do you have to remove the battery?

There's a hole in the upper tube for installing the air temp sensor. No mocifications are necessary.

The hole in the top of the fender well is just big enough for the tube to go through (a piece of molding is included to cover the edges of the hole). You access the compartment where the filter goes (first for installation, and later for cleaning), by undoing the clips on the fender liner and accessing through there. Its pretty easy.

So I need to drill a hole on my fender to make the filter fit?

i believe the tube will go through the hole into the fender well, where the filter will sit.
