At the time they stopped making performance parts, there was a lot more inventory in some kits than others - there are a LOT of 95/96 CAIs left (and 92-94 SE Maximas too), and they're still available in red, yellow and silver.

Brian, Im not sure if youre wife remembers but awhile ago you guys were placing an order over the 800 number to Officemax and I was helping her, I asked for the company name and she said Cattman Performance and I couldnt believe the odds me, a Maxima enthusiast, would get that call. Needless to say this was about the time you debuted the Headers and I talked to her for awhile about youre Company and products, that was probably my favorite call Ive received, lol. Sorry for long post had to share this unprobable experience, I mean our company has thousands of employees and I got the call, lol.

There is absolutely no performance difference between the Cattman and PR CAIs, purely some style differences (slightly different MAF adapter - the machining is higher quality and they're black anodized - and we use our special black clamps).

That's a good story, I think I recall my wife mentioning that, she was as surprised as you were.

Cattman - any way you can bring the prices of your CAI's down to the price of the PR CAI? I'm interested in a 00 CAI, but ~$100 more is a bit much...

No, I paid more for the CAIs we have in inventory than the price of the group deal CAIs. They're not anywhere near $100 more, however, since all the Cattman CAIs are 20% off right now. That sale price comes to $177 for the silver ones, and $172 for black. Inventory and colors are somewhat spotty, but we have a couple 00/01 kits.

The 98 I30 takes the same intake as the 97-99 Maximas. Those sold out in the group deal quite a while ago (there weren't many of those kits in their inventory), but we have a bunch of Cattman CAIs that will fit, in silver ($177) and our all-black version ($172). They are basically Cattman-labelled PR CAIs, but we substituted nicer black clamps and MAF adapters.

Oic, I thought it was about $100 more because the original GD PR price was 129 or 135 and I saw a post on the last page that said

"If you don't see what you want in the group deal, we have our silver and all-black Cattman CAIs available for all the 89-03 applications, on sale at 20% off our regular prices of $220 for silver and $215 for black."

But 177 and 172 sound much better =). So yours are basically the same as PR except for the clamps and MAF adapter? Same "true" CAI where you have to drill a hole in your car and it comes with everything needed (filter, hoses, etc.) for installation? And what colors do you have for the 00 kits, just black and silver? Thanks!

 

As I indicated in the earlier post, our Cattman CAIs are 20% off $220 and $215 (which is $176 and $172). The answer to all your other questions is "yes".

I sent my payment in last monday and haven't gotten a word on if/when my CAI will be sent out. wassup???

 

Assuming that you ordered one of the CAIs that is shipped directly from Place Racing, there is no news to send (yet). The group deal "rules" imposed by Place Racing have been discussed a few times in this long thread, but in brief this is how it works.

PR will not stop their manufacturing to ship individual orders, so we accumulate 10 or more orders and send them over in a batch. We've got about 6 orders right now, so that batch will be sent over some time next week. If an order's paid for with a CC, we don't charge the card until we're ready to ship over the batch of orders, but if you pay with PayPal the money comes through when you send the PayPal transaction.

This is a group deal that requires some patience, but for most people its a good enough value to offset that because these are the best intakes made for the Maxima, and this is the best price they've ever sold for (and that is a lousy sentence, but you get my drift).

You were too late a few days ago, but we just got a blue 00/01 CAI back because it had shipped in a box marked 02/03. Give us a call at 520.730.9309 to order (9-6 Pacific Time, M-F). The good thing about this one is that its in our warehouse rather than Place Racing's and can ship immediately.

I mean the upper and lower tubes are blue. The connecting hoses are black. Hoses and tubes are all you can see.

Hey Brian, its been about a month since I paid for my cai. How many more orders do I have to wait for?

 

I'm sorry about that. First, send me email letting me know who you actually are, so I can match you up with your order and be certain that this isn't a "not delivered", instead of a "not shipped" issue.

More likely that your order came in late April when we began accumulating a batch or orders that was sent to PR on 13 May, and we've been trying to get them shipped out ever since. To be clear, nothing's at risk and I haven't any doubt that all will be sent "soon", but it can be very aggravating in the mean time. Believe me, this is not my favorite way to run a group deal but my arrangement with PR forces us to ship from their warehouse.

As I've had to mention in this thread during other delays, PR has a tiny staff these days, and they're about 99% devoted to manufacturing tractor parts with a large order backlog, so the trick is getting them to stop long enough to ship out a batch of CAIs. Not really an excuse for poor customer service, but that is the reason.

The GD is long dead. We ended up buying all of the remaining Place Racing inventory and have sold most of the Maxima equipment since then. [Still have a LOT of 02-04 V6 Altima CAIs.]

We do, however, still have several PR CAIs for the 1995-96 Maximas and we'll sell those for 30% off of the original prices (originally $210 for black and colors, $215 for silver).
