Gas light, tank full. What can it mean?

Hey, is the low gas idiot light supposed to indicate anything other than low gas? I defintiely have fuel in my tank but my gas lights been coming on and staying on for a while. Is it probably just bugging out, or does the light have a double meaning like say an injector problem or something?

There is a sensor located in the fuel tank attached the stalk that your fuel pump, gas gauge sending unit. It is on the bottom of the stalk. it is probably bad. You would most likely have to get one out of a junker.

My Max started leaking gas from the filler, which caused the fuel light to come on and off. (the recall had already been performed on it some time ago)

I fixed the leak, but, the gas light keeps flickering on and off, which is quite irritating >:|

At least your idiot light works... My gauge doesn't even know how much gas in there sometimes... much less know when to turn the light on/off

I have that problem every few months too...one second the car is full and the next the fuel guage drops straight to E for a few miles then back to full. Strange.

I always start the tripometer (sp?) on a new tank of gass to keep track of MPG, usually get between 350-400 miles, so I would not miss the gas guage if it finally died.

Do you have a digital gauge too or is it analog?
