WOOT in the 14s now!

Finally its about time. It was just the tires that I was having a problem with. My launches with my stock tires were horrible and I could never get traction and if I tried not to I would bog so I threw on some slicks and got myself a 15.2 I believe for the first run then I hit a 14.9 and 15.0 then low 15s for the night.

with street tires

Btw im car 326 and my mods are SP2 catback, B&M STS, budget Ypipe, and tein coilovers.

Steve got slower on slicks...traction issue or clutch?

I'm not really sure. They were 555-R drag radials on a light 17" wheels. My trap went down 2-3 mph on both runs and my E/T was slower by .15 and .075 seconds. My 60' was better on street tires both times at 2.2

Edit: I'm running a JWT clutch with about 5k miles on it... It grabs hard all the time. Track conditions weren't as good as they could have been, but most everyone was running fast.

Nice going! Funny how happy you get when you hit that magic number 14... too bad I havent gotten there yet

Maybe he wasnt fooling enough with tire pressure?

The drag radials were at 25 psi. We probably could have gone lower but had to use them for the drive home.

They don't have an air at the track? So what was the 60' on the DR's?

The best I could pull was like a 2.283 on the DRs. The other run was a 2.3 something.

how many miles on your car and when was your last tune up? your times are respectable but you should be running those times on street tires. i believe steve metioned your car is also cali spec and you are a 5speed?

Yes im cali spec and its a 5spd. I some times will hit 4th but not always. If I dont its right on redline which I cant really tell cause my RPM need sits higher than its supposed to cause of my gauges

Oh and id have to check on that tune up cause I bought the car with 54k miles on it and I put about 3k on it so far so its not very old but im not sure about the tune up. I will have to change the oil soon here I put in synthetic right when I got it then I just put in some new NGK copper plugs and stuff running 91 octane gas

well you should deffinately have the potential to have mid to low 14's. only 57k your so lucky my car now has 111k.i would checkup on the tune up new plugs and maybe a fuel filter. its pretty cheap stuff you can do yourself and it makes a world of diffrence. if my car can do it your car can.

Next time just mess with the tire pressures... I mean I'm sure you know just doign a burn out will make the tire pressure rise a few PSI, you just have to keep toying with the PSI after every run to get it just right.

im really lost here. I thought Steve has JWT ECU and clutch/flywheel, headers, MEVI.... etc. then he adds slicks and his car is still high 14's. Am I an idiot or what. WHat is the elevation and track conditions?

No ecu for steve yet. He has the rest of the stuff so pretty much the mevi is minimal power for him. That ecu will drop his time significantly. I dont know much about his launches but I know mine are terrible without the slicks. He said he was launching the same as I was... Some times I would drop it at 4k sometimes at 5k.
