How-To Firewall Hole For Running Amp Power Wire Up To 4 Gauge!

This is just a post to help all of you out who have 1995-1999 Nissan Maximas and want to run the power wire through the fire wall inside your car there is a factory hole already large enough for up to a 4 gauge power wire to pass through. The picture shows where this hole is you just pop out the grommet that is there.

My friends 99 doesnt have a hole. Plus if you use the stock grament in the wheel you can run 0 gauge. Where the stock wiring harness goes through.

True....however, its a pain in the *** to get behind that fender especially if your Maxima is lowered. You'd need to jack up the front driver side to get a gap big enough to fit your arm in there. '99 owners are pretty much SOL'd on this. I have a '95 so I will check out the hole that metallic97gxe pointed out.

I went and looked at my '95 SE. That hole is for the temperature control cable. It looks large enough for a 4 guage wire. I'd be careful with this though because you wouldn't want to hinder the operation of the temp cable otherwise climate control won't work. Just a precaution there.

Another good spot is to the right of that on the other side of the brake master cylinder more or less where the clutch goes for us auto guys. Thats where I have a hole drilled... I'm running 4gauge wire as well as 2 cables for my whelen strobes through there. Its a perfect spot for under the dash.

Just take a torch and cut a hole. Use a dremel to size it to a grommet. Did it on 6 Maximas. No leaks

thats where i put my power wire Ant. it was kind of a pain to get the hole started cause i was drilling from the inside at an angle with a small bit for a pilot hole, but it's all good. Just make sure if you put any wire through the fire wall to put a grommet to keep it from rubbing.
