5.5 gen question

Hey guys, I'm still new to the Maxima world, and I keep hearing refferences to the 5.5 gen.

My question is how do you distinguish a 5.5 gen from a normal 5th gen?

Easiest (but not always surefire) way is to look at the headlights or tail lights. The 5th gen tail ligths don't have the silver around them and the 5.5 gen headilghts look like this

just looking, like he said, is the HID headlights and the UGLY chrome tail lights...the other is the 3.5L V6 as opposed to the 3.0L V6. if thats not enough, looking at the shifter in the 5.5th gen is the "gated" style. the stereo on the 5.5th gen is a different setup, 6 disc changer i think.

hey! i happen to like those "UGLY" chrome tail lights!

also, the other thing is that the 5th gen has one long slot on the bottom of the front bumper where as the 5.5th gen has that split up into two.

Don't forget that the 5.5 have side skirts, and are better than the regular ol' 5th gen...

*edit* I forgot about the chrome grill with the big hamburger (nissan emblem) apposed to the plain black grill on the 5th gen.

I have to agree. I also agree with the ugly chrome taillights. I wish Nissan had made the cases black on the headlights and taillights. I also think the chrome grill is SUPER ugly. I painted mine black to match the car. I DON'T LIKE CHROME.

Yeah...wouldn't want to jack headlights off a 5th gen only to find out they aren't HID's!

Also you can look at the tail pipe. '03's have two chrome tips. '02s and before have one oval tip.

Oh ya, and we are better looking too (well, at least most of us...)
