cleaning your wheels?
Over the winter, a small amount of brake dust has accumulated behind the spokes in my stock 17" wheels. I have tried a couple of brake dust reovers but have little luck and am afraid to scrub them too much.
Any suggestions for removing this junk?

Don't use anything harsh on the wheels. Stick to using car soap and water with a soft brush. It is tough to get the grime off the inside of the wheels, but do as best you can. You don't want to risk messing up the outside finish of the wheels.

I've CONSISTENTLY used a toilet scrubber on the inside of the tires.... (it works wonders, but don't use any harsh chemicals!!) Even though I haven't particularly noticed any scratches, i'm not the least bit worried... Why??? well, how many people look at the INSIDE of your wheels?? c'mon... i'd rather save the skin on my knuckles, and just use a brush..
The outside, however, is a totally different deal... i use the same soft sponge i use to clean the car (after cleaning the car)... :-)

You can have it (the entire rim) re-finished it, but i dunno about cheap... I'm pretty sure it's well over $100 per wheel..

Buy a Boars Hair brush that is soft yet made specifically for the wheels. No scratches and will easily go behind the wheels. www.autosupermart.com usually as them available under the detailing banner.
