Desperately need your help!

I want to get a proximity sensor installed when i get Don to install the Viper 791XV on my Max... But a lot of people r saying NO... dont get it.. Its a pain, you cant keep any metal in ur center console and all! Anyone who has the proximity sensor ever have problems?

I've had one for 3-4 years on my Neon and never had any problems. Mine was made by Viper.

 

Viper 508D.... prox sensor.

They are good and work well. Having lived in NH, I will let you know that they seem to be more sensitive in the cold weather. I used to have to adjust mine in the fall and the spring.

As far as the metal is concerned, that is correct. I left a wheel lock key in my center console one day and couldn't figure out why my alarm was going off every 5 minutes. It's a good thing one of my installers asked my if i had any metal near it. I checked and realized that the lock was there. Tossed it on the seat and was fine after that.

 

I see... thats what they meant by metal in the center console! But do you recommend it?

 

I like it, it just has to be adjusted well. If you make the inside zone too sensitive and the outside zone not sensitive, it will go off imediately as someone walks up to it. It's supposed to have a warning chirp when the outside zone is breached. and the inside zone is if you leave the windows open and someone reaches inside.

All in all, I like it and would suggest it, especially if you like to leave the windows open when you run in a gas station or something. You can arm it and it will go off as soon as someone messes with it.

 

I'm interested in getting one for my Max because it also keeps the "average" criminal away.
