Any kind bro. just gotta do a lil modification to it to fit right or the way you want it to go. Or theres a person on here I belive or was in the past that sells CAI for our gen. Somethign along the lines of PiggyRacing and heard there pretty good. I was going to go through them, but decided to take a differnt route, and try ram air. Its all up to you bro. Hope we can help. littlepiggie doesn't make them anymore. You'll have to make your own. I have the original piggie racing CAI....but I had to have maximusrideus make my mid-pipe.

I made my own intake with sotck parts, cone filter and maf adapter(u can get that at the zone..it says"sentra and maxima" I have some pictures of mine..Here check them out. Its a bit messy..I havent had time to fix it the way I want. Plus There isnt only but one connection for the lines(i put the line with the most suction..ghetto yes..but still works) I jes put filters over them no biggie. After that I definately felt a decent increase and oh man it changed my engines revving sound completely. Sound fckin awesome.

Actually, in Australia, the Maxima was offered with a turbo motor (dunno if it was the VG30ET or not, but I'm pretty sure it was, and in auto and stick i believe) and it had a little scoop similar to the turbo Z31's scoop in about that location, but it was chromed out to match the trim.

You learn something everyday.

No, there isn't one. I have pics of a 86 Maxima Legran and 87 Maxima Legran (both body styles), and neither have the hood scoop, both are VG20ET's. However, if it was like the 300zx, it wouldn't stand out as much and probably compliment the car pretty nicely if you center it on the hood. The other problem I have with that design is it leave plenty room for something to get in there, whether it's water, or rocks, or leaves. I sure as heck don't want to take that car through an automatic car wash, and would be scared to run the motor in the rain because it looks like water can begin puddling on the filter. Keep in mind these are my opinion.

I don't wanna start a big thing, and it's kinda OT anyway...BUT...I saw it in an Australian online auto magazine. The article was about adding cheap power. Now, I may be mistaken (it was awhile ago that I saw it) but the featured car was an 87 turbo Maxima (maybe some type of Bluebird???) with an auto. That's what I remember seeing, but again, I could be wrong.

And max86se, I know what you're thinking--"DOES NOT COMPUTE"--j/k but I'm 90% sure that's what it was. Like I said, I could be wrong. For all I know, this guy put on his own hood scoop, but it looked stock.

Was it a custom setup? From the sounds of it, it might be since it was on an auto magazine. If you do find it again, I'd love to check it out. But I can post a few pics of factory Bluebird Maxima Legran's if you like. hehe, yes it "DOES NOT COMPUTE" . I'm sorry Dave, but I can't do that.

Hey it was just an Idea that I thought would be fun to try, plus I had just taken autobody so it was my first mod. Yeah your right though it dose get leaves in it but has a mesh on the back side to stop from any of that to get in there, Ive got a scoop from a 300zx that Im getting ready to put over top of it to finish it off. Ill get pics. after its all done. Just never seen anybody try a scoop like that on our gen. of maxima's. But hey its all good I guess.

Awesome to hear you taken autobody. As I try to say to everyone, I have my tastes and opinions, but if that person likes it, more power to them. Props on do the custom work.

you are correct, I saw the same thing...I dont remember anything about the hood scoop, but I almost bought this article off of ebay, but i did not want to pay $4.00 plus shipping to have a few torn out mag. pages. In fact, if you do a search I think someone posted a link to it on here a month or so ago. It was pretty cool.

OK, like I said it was a few years that I saw the article, and I can't seem to find the exact same article again. But here some pics of the same car from the magazine from other articles. When I read it first, it was free for all access, now you have to join up.

This pic is small, but you can clearly see it's an 87/88 Max with a little teenie scoop.

Looks like here he's cutting out the hole:

"The car in question was my 1988 Maxima VG20ET turbo, but the points are applicable to pretty well any turbo car that was sold non-intercooled..."
-That's from the article, so I guess I'm only half right.

Pretty neat anyway.
BTW, here's the URL's I found for it in case you wanna check it out:

Scott,
Are you selling the car? If so I am interested in the Stanza TB and the top hats (don't know what the correct word is) for the front suspension set up....that is if you have the non adjustable set up. Let me know something. Also if you are keeping the car....goodluck with putting it back together

We're selling the car... have a couple of offers, so I can't help ya out
on the "top hats", but I still have the Stanza TB that I'll sell for 20 +
shipping.

I also have an extra intake that I was going to hog out the inlet and
install along with the six new injectors that I bought for it (which are
for sale at $75 + shipping for all six).

I also have a "racing cat" (read; straight pipe) that I'd let go for $30
+ shipping (it's a direct bolt in).

There's the extra mid pipe that I bought from Jeff with the section of
rubber coupling - $40 + shipping

I have an extra used MAF - $20 + shipping

There's an extra complete distributor - $35 + shipping

I even have a new set of high quality floor mats (medium to light brown
in color) $40 + shipping

I also have a set of universal Accel spiral core plug wires that have the
self crimp ends and the straight boot - set is missing the coil wire as I at
least got that installed on my Max! $40 + shipping (set of eight wires)

I haven't made up my mind yet, but I might be selling off my 74 Nova
as well... with the 383 Stroker engine having to run on Cam 2 race
fuel, it's a mighty big feed bill for the thirsty pup.

We just traded in our 96 Ford F250 for a brand new 2004 F150 and the
extra cash from the Nova would help out quite a bit... either to pay a
chunk down on the new truck or the 2003 Four Winds 27ft travel trailer
we bought last year.

Course the $600 a year I shell out for a storage unit for the Nova would
be a nice release as well... not to mention the classic car insurance I keep
on it...

Bad thing is, I'll sure miss that perma-grin that lasts for at least a day
after driving it!

Let me know what Max parts you're interested in and I'll give ya a total.

Thanks!
Scott
