I'm looking to get the ADR GT Sports in either 17's or 18's. Eventually I'm going to get H&R's and new shocks. My question is do you guys think the 18's are worth the extra $400 bucks? How much of a difference is there in the ride quality between the 2 sizes? Any input would be appreciated... Thanks

 

I would rather spend the extra money than get the 17's and regret that you didn't get the 18's after

 

People sell 17's to buy 18's.. not the other way around.. you make the choice

 

I went with 18's at first and regreted it. Then I went with 20's. I was happy for a while, but now I regret that too. I need 21's. My life will not be complete until I'm sitting on Dubs + 1.

 

I just put my 18's on my other car today and will be putting 17's on (from the other car) later this week. I came here and asked the same question and got similar responses. Bottom line is it depends on what's important to you.

If you want to keep the ride more comfortable, less bumpy, go with 17's and a 50 series tire, +2...

If you want to enhance handling and go with 18's...

I'm sure my repsonse will not be applauded by others but it's just my opinion.

If you wait till next week, I will give you my impression of the difference and change my sig to show the 215 50 17 Falkens on Einki Fubukis. I only chose this tire size because they're a good fit on my Sebring.

In my opinion, anything bigger than 18's on a Max looks bad (literally) unless the car is set up for show and dropped alot.

 

Get the 18s. The 2K+ SE already comes with 17s stock. Maxima is a big car and 17s just looks small on the car.

 

my whole take on the wheel thing is as follows

19,20, 21 = show car only, you're gonna feel it

18" = good cornering, looks great, slower acceleration

17" = best compromise of speed, cornering, ride quality

< 17" = best acceleration, looks a little too small, corners average.

oh yeah... and don't forget that unless you drop your car, the gap looks bigger (but it's not really) on large rims... i.e. the 4x4 look is even bigger.

 

I say get the 18"s. I have the same wheel in 19", and it looks great to me. I used to have 17"s, but it's way too small for a Maxima. However, if you get 18"s, you will have to drop your car a lot for it to look decent. When I went from 17"s to 19"s, I had to drop my car all the way on the ground controls to look decent.

 

Go for the 18's. You wont regret it.

21's on a Max?? dayam your nuts

 

i just got 17's on my max, i debated back and forth on 17s or 18s, and finally let money be the deciding factor. now i regret it. i like the 17s, they look much better than the stock 15s, but i wish i had gone with the 18s. on a car as large as the maxima, 18s look great. 19's look even better... but i consider 19s extreme for a daily driven street car, but some of the guys here with 19's or 20s might disagree with me on that.... hehe.

17" (or smaller) will have better acceleration with a lower rotation weight, located closer to the hub. The 18" (or larger) will look better but will be slightly slower.

If you line in CA, where roads are smooth year round, 18 may be OK. If you live where the roads are full of potholes, then the 18'ers will not last long.

if you don't plan on putting a bodykit on your car then just get sprints... but if you are, then maybe something with a little less drop would be smarter
