I just swapped headlights from my 96 GLE with a 97 Maxima. The clear lights on the newer maximas really looks great and clean on my 96. I almost scammed the grill too but it did not fit right. Oh well....next project...painting brake calipers.....If you guys get a chance to do this swap...do it...it looks better and has a better pattern on the road....especially if you have upgraded bulbs.

a lot of people have preformed this switch and to me the 95 headlights are better cuz 1. there made of glass and the 97 are made of plastic, and 2. they might be brighter but if you want to put HID's your beam pattern would be all screwed(i think).

my 2 cents

how much of a hassle was it for you to take out the 96 headlamps and install the 97 headlamps? I'm not sure if I should even attempt doing this even though the 97-99 headlamps look nicer than the 95-96's. It's too bad that the 97-99 headlamps aren't made of cleared out glass. So I'm assuming there's less light projection on the plastic headlamps, right? Is it that much of a difference in the light output? I wonder.

For some reason, the 97-99 headlamps look more like some of the honda headlamps. If you look in a 92-96 prelude of a 98-01 accord, it appears to have that chrome object near the bulb as well as those chrome reflectors. Do those Honda cars have plastic headlamps too? Hmmm. I dunno.

It was not too much of a hassle....between putting new hood on and headlights I spent about 3 hours more or less. The plastic lights look very clean on the car. At night they get even better. I put the higher wattage Hiperwhites in there and ran an upgraded harness.....Holy s@#$ what a difference. It is so clear and bright and there is not dark shadows anywhere on the road in front of me. Love the pattern and the very white slight blueish tint. Best look so far.

Really impressive photo! Now I know what I want to do next. You mentioned you spent 3 hours between the lights and the hood. What did you have to do to the hood to make this setup work?

you don't have to do anything to the hood to swap the lights, they are a direct swap from the 97-99 lights.
