Add heated seats to leather ?

Is it possible to add the seat heaters to a '99 SE with Leather ?
I found a nearly perfect '99, but there are no seat heaters under the leather. It's a "must have" feature for my wife. Can the factory units be added ? Anyone done this ?

Is it difficult to install the seat pads/heaters ? Do I need to have an upholstry shop do the installation or can a DIYer do the work ? Do the factory pads come with any instruction or am I "on my own".
Thanks for any details you can provide. This is the "make or break" decision on a very nice car, but the wife has declared seat heaters a "must have".
