jsut curious has anyone tried this procedure to adjust the maxima's loose steering?

I've had my FSM for years now,just never checked that section. Now the weather's too cold to do it. Looks like it has to be done with the rack off the car? Seems like a lot of work. Mine's leaking on my '95 SE, my mechanic called it a Nissan sickness and shrugged
