SES Light "ON" - few questions

Got somewhat a noobie question:
Just got my Service Engine Soon light on last night.

I think my car is due for an oil change. I'm gonna change the oil next few days.

1) Would changing my oil turn the light off? If not how do i reset it?

2) What other repairs would I be most likely need to do to turn the light off?

They should have a sticky on this.... if they already do i couldn't find it.

Thanks,
Viktor

Ok did it just come on randomly or did your car stall and it came on. I don't think because you need and oil change it came on.

there is a sticky for it, the red links at the top of the page for check engine light.

once you pull codes and find out what they are related to once there fixed it will go away, it will also go away if you reset the light, but it will come back due to what ever is causing it to come on.

I thought Service Engine Soon light is different from Check Engine Light or are they the same?

Can I check the code the same way for SES as I do for CEL?

Its in the stickies, just look harder. Right here http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=104931

The only way the SES light will come on is for and only for emissions purposes. It will NOT turn on for an oil change.. or anything relating to the oil. Only if any emissions part is not working properly.
