smells like frying electronics in my engine bay, everything is working fine though. What could this be?

That sucks dude, that could be many things, I smell oil under my hood, but i guess an oil leak is easier to find than a electronic problem. i would start from the battery and follw all terminals and fuses for corrosion.

I had something with similar symptom a few months ago. It turned out to be my alternator, more specifically the regulator. It was a factory recall I believe. When it happened to me, I would see a small amount of smoke with a electrical smell to it coming out of my cowl panel and grill (depending if I was moving or waiting at a light). I kinda figured it was my alt. and eventually a few months later my dash lights dimmed and by the time I got home (less than 1 mile drive) my battery metered ~8 volts. Surprisingly, I was still able to drive 5 miles to town with traffic to a shop and have it changed. Cost about $350 including core charge.
