Hi all - after a great struggle, my web site is now back up on a fast new Dell server. Everything has been restored, and the old site is no more.

I have some new pics of the 2002 3.5 Altima from the NY Auto Show.

Nice pictures of the 2002 Altima. I read that it's going to have 260hp. If it really does, I wonder how much horsepower the Maxima is going to have?

That's what I'm wondering as well. Maybe they'll put a SC on it from the factory? I see that the new X-Terra is getting one. Maybe maybe? There's no way they'll let the Maxima have less Hp then the Altima.

hey airmattdog, you must think though that the supercharger on the frontier only makes about 30 hp, unlike 80 from the Vortec for the max, I think nissan should come out with a new turbo option for the Max but on the SE only, or just go all out and make a Maxima GTR V-spec and put the skyline engine in it. I allways thought that Nissan should have done one thing that the honda guys did and made a 2 door Maxima (well that is basicly a Skyline
but like Honda did with the Legend (which is a bada$$) I think that the 4th gen in a Legend format 2 door would be sweet.

GTR. I think you've got a good idea on that. I do know that the engine in the Skyline can't be made to be left hand drive that's why we'll never seen it regularly shipped over here. The two door is an awesome idea. I just don't think it'll ever happen. We'll see.

TommyBoi-Are you sure the Max is gonna have 260? I know the I35 is going to have that but the doesn't the Maxima always carry a lower amount of horses? Doesn't the I30 have 227 now though? So I guess I may be wrong on that.

Interesting, very interesting.

From all that I've read the new Max will have a 3.5 liter 260 Hp V6 , which is the same engine that will be an option on the 2002 Altima . However the Maxima and I35 have an extra 20 Hp over the Altima .

I read 2 places it would have 260hp...
5 horses now isn't much difference and the 4th Gen's had the same in the Max/I30...

I don't quite like the way they tweaked the I35... I see too much Acura 3.2TL in it....
Maybe that's just me

anyhow, I reallllly want an altima, anyone know if they going to keep similar pricing or if there will be a jump to maxima pricing?

I love my Max , but I'm going down to the New York Auto Show this weekend to check out the Altima . I think Nissan is trying to align itself with the likes of the 3.2 TL S Type, and the Lexus GS300 with bumping the power in the Max. The TL S-Type is definitely a bang for the buck, and hopefully Nissan will do something similar.
