Heck, I got bored and took them off.

Yet thin adhesive remains amongst my blue paint. Can anyone spot me advice how to remove the thin flim that says MAXIMA?

Thanks in advance.

Rubbing Alcohol

Try using the white rubbing alcohol and apply it to a rag. It worked really well when I took my emblems off. It's safe on your paint, too!

Try some duct tape or other really sticky tape. Keep applying it and pulling it off. It works slowly, but I've found it to be one of the best for removing goo without scratching, etc.

BTW, put the affected area in the sun to warm it and soften the adhesive.

Good Luck!

I used Rubbing compound made by Turtle Wax to get the extra 'glue/cement' off.

Emblems for sale?

Those of you with a 97-99, do you want to sell your silver MAXIMA emblem? I went to the dealership for a new one but they are expensive, so I thought I would get a used one in good condition. E-mail me if you want to. Thanks.

Probably not adhesive. I tried many of these suggestions, except buffing maybe. It's etched into our paint. Texas heat!

maybe you are seeing the untouched paint that was under the emblem compared to the rest of the faded paint.

Four solvents to remove most anything

1. Laquer Thinner
2. Enamel Reducer
3. Wood Alcohol (rubbing alcohol may also work)
4. Body Shop type paint "prep" cleaner.
5. Acetone

Different glues are made from different bases. What removes one won't touch another... but one of these will be the one you need if it's really glue. OTOH, if your paint is faded, it won't help. Use lots of rags and lots of solvent once you find the one that works.

DON'T use rubbing or polishing compound, or so called finish restoring products. All have abrasives.

I went to a paint store and bought a product called "Goof gone" or off or something like that but they have alot of similar product like that at paint supply or at the paint sections at home depot and the like, worked so easily that i regret i didn't think of it earlier...

Same problems

I had the same problem and had just half a M and half a X on ... two days ago i just sprayed it with wd-40 and used a dull knife and edged it off without causing any damage..my fingernails wore out by this point thus i resorted to the knife, i would suggest going straight to the knife..

Use what Nismo said. To take off my hamburger logo, I just used WD40 and a credit card. Got all the adhesive off of the car. Save your finger nails and use a credit card

Re: Four solvents to remove most anything

how much do they sell the MAXIMA emblems for at Nissan?? and as for the adhesive.. i scrapped it off with my fingers and used bug-off and tar remover stuff, then just prewaxed and waxed my back end.. looks perfect.

2 - If anyone got that silver MAXIMA emblem they don't need, email me pleeze! I'll take it off your hands.

i just took the hamburger off ten minutes ago, its about 80 out and i read your post and it seemed better than doing homework. anyway, i just used a hairdryer and a credit card. i took the remaining glue off with a combination of "goo gone" ((this is the best stuff) and the hairdryer, melting the remining glue off using my fingernail and then putting the goo gone on and wiping it off. then i polished and waxed. i left the MAXIMA logo on and it looks good lined up with the chrome key hole.

took off all the glue just now...

i took my emblems off right when i got my car a while ago and some glue remained. i tried everything except for the "butterknife technique" and was real skeptical of it, i thought i would do some damage. well i tried it real carefull this morning, all you do is lightly rub the rounded edge of a butterknife where the glue is and it pops right off. no scratchs or anything, nice and clean.

I used wd 40 and a credit card. But for the small marks, I used toothpicks. They actually worked really well for me.

so to start...

All I need is something to warm up the hamburger and then just take it off with a credit card? sounds simple enough, or did I miss something?

Anyone has that MAXIMA logo they want to get rid off? I'll take it off your hands!
