ECU Codes: 0705 & 0309 PLEASE HELP!

Okay so here's the story...about 2 weeks ago my check engine light came on, and then I went to get my emissions tested (in VA its every year). I FAILED. Sheet shows my [NO ppm]? is way higher than the limit. What is NO ppm anyways? Well today I pulled my codes, hoping to get some answers to the problem. I pulled 07 05 (Evaporative Emission Control System.) and 03 09 (which according to the decoder doesn't exist)...but I know it was 3 long pulses and 9 short pulses...hence 0309. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tackle this problem? There seems to be a million things that could cause 0705. I need to pass emissions or I could get pulled over! Also, do I have to wait until I see my CEL or can I pull the codes again to make sure I got the right ones? Thanks for your help.

You can check codes anytime, i think they're stored for 50 startups or something like that. If you hit the "Jackpot code" like i did (some EVAP code, i THINK it was 07 05, long time ago sorry) good luck, it could be something very simple or very complex. Someone prompted me to check the EVAP something or other behind the rear wheel, driver's side. I haven't done it yet since my car works perfectly well as it is, i just get a pesky CEL when i turn on my AC.

Whats up MAN! Been a long time, how come you don't ever post in the DC forum? You know one of us would be willing to help you out.

So I took it to my mechanic, and he told me he would need to keep it for a whole day to find out what's causing the problem. Think I should do it? He'll probably charge me up the **** for this...
