New Energy Suspension Bushings Intro Sale

Cattman Performance has teamed up with Energy Suspension for a holiday surprise - the rollout of their long-awaited new suspension, motor mount and shifter bushings for the Maxima, I30 and I35.

Here are some great discounts to introduce the 4 new bushing sets. We're also including the 2 Maxima sets already in the Energy Suspension catalogue.

Part #s, applications and sale prices are:

+ ES1114 Motor mount inserts 1995-03 Maxima - $79.95 (MSRP $120)

+ ES1115 Shifter (6-speed) bushing set 2002-2003 - $18.95 (MSRP $29)

+ ES3118 Front control arm set 2000-03 Maxima - $49.95 (MSRP $75)
+ ES3111 Front control arm set 1995-1999 Maxima - $28.95 (MSRP $50)
+ ES7108 Rear trailing arm set 2000-03 Maxima - $64.95 (MSRP $95)
+ ES5118 Front sway bar frame set 1995-1999 Maxima - $8.95 (MSRP $12)

JUST ADDED ANOTHER (19 DEC)
+ ES1116 Front lower subframe set 1995-2003 Maxima - $21.95 (MSRP $31) [Due about January 10.]

These are so new, we haven't even seen them yet, but we're taking orders now that will be filled as soon as we receive our first shipment from Energy Suspension (7-10 days they say). These don't weigh much, so the shipping will be reasonable - smaller orders will go out in envelopes.

PoLo has evaluated the motor mounts and 6-speed shifter bushings and theresults sound great (http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=316784). He reports the mounts are a smoother alternative to the HD Place Racing mounts, and the shifter bushings increase shifting precision and confidence.

This is an introductory sale by Cattman Performance, the oldest Maxima performance provider, so you can order with complete confidence. Its not a group deal, so there's no minimum numbers or extra hassle.

Call our office to order at 520.730.9309 (9-6 MST, M-Sat) or if we're tied up you can reach the nice lady at our ordering service via 800.759.9920 (8-5 MST, M-F). We take all major CCs, but won't charge your order till it ships. If you'd like to pay through PayPal or send a money order, email us to get a shipping quote and our email or postal address.

This sale is good through 31 December 2004, we'll look forward to hearing from you. If you're going to order, post on this thread to show your interest!

[BTW, don't look for these on our website, its shelled, they'll be on the new site with a lot of other new parts later this month.]

What exactly are the benefits to these sets?

I think the benefit of all the suspension bushings can be summed up this way, but others will have more specific impressions, so please contribute.

Everywhere you find a suspension or steering bushing, its a mechanical joint that requires some play or flex, rather than a solid metal-bolted-to-metal connection. Nissan designs the bushings, like the rest of the suspension, as a compromise between comfort and cost. The result means that performance and durability get the short end of the stick. High quality urethane bushings are the solution to both issues.

Its not that much different than replacing the stock struts or springs with performance parts - urethane bushings take out the slop and tighten things up because they're firmer than the stock material and maintain their resilience over time (and in cold weather, btw) much better. The effects vary by bushing location/function. Some bushing types affect how the car rides (like the rear trailing arm set), and some are more related to steering (like the front control arm set), so the result include a tauter ride and/or more precise steering response. Keep in mind that these are the first part #s in a series, Energy Suspension is developing a pretty complete set for the 00-03s (and I've found a source for a very complete set of 95-99 suspension bushings, but that's another sale).

Obviously the effect of new bushings is not as dramatic as a strut/spring replacement, but the difference is quite noticeable if you're someone who pays attention to the suspension and handling characteristics of the car. Bushing upgrades are sort of like installing a rear sway bar - they don't make the ride rough or noisy, they just make it better.

To sum things up, replacing all the key bushings is a logical and necessary step in the process of upgrading the entire suspension system. I especially recommend that they be installed with strut or strut/spring upgrades, since the additional damping and spring rates increase the stress on the stock bushings, and the extent and variability of undesirable movement at those locations increases if they aren't upgraded.

They've just come out, so I'm not exactly sure what the permanent prices will be, but these sale prices are definitely less than what we'll charge on a regular basis.

No, there isn't. Sorry about that. I suspect that if these new parts are a success they'll want to roll into the next generation.

Trailing arm ES7108

Can anyone verify if the A33 trailing arm bushing is interchangable with the A32? I couldn't find detail on either Alldata or JRNissan. I hear the B14/B14 drivers love this mod. Thanks!

it says 00-03? so i'd assume its interchangable. I believe ES also confirmed with daveB and polo first during r&D

95-99 Maxima bushing sets from Australia

I've recently found another source that lists these suspension and steering bushing applications for 95-99 Maximas:

Front alignment set
Front control arms
Front swaybar frame mount
Front swaybar links
Rear swaybar links
Rear swaybar mount
Rear control arms
Rear trailing arms

I'm a little puzzled by the rear swaybar link and mount bushings, given the beam axle - these are out of Australia but their 95+ Maximas have beam axles too. They may be referring to the bar that passes through the beam axle, which does function sort of like a swaybar - can anyone shed any light on this?

Anyway, most of these bushings seem to be unique to this company, so I'm in the process of arranging an evaluation of the bushings, springs and struts they make for the Maxima. I will post an intro sale for these bushings as soon as I get the prices pinned down with the supplier and make sure I know which bits go where on the car.

The only 3rd gen bushings ES lists are lateral link bushings. I don't have a price or other information.

nate (the rep) went through a GREAT deal of time and effort to confirm and triple confirm part compatibility. between me and him, and then him and daveB, so these applications are 100% fit to said years above.

hope you're all happy. i am.

We're taking orders now. If you pay by credit card, we won't charge it till they ship to you. If you want to pay by PayPal or money order you can also do that at any time from now on. I'm told by ES that we'll see parts in roughly 10 days - if you're among the first 20 orders for any part, you'll get it from this first batch and we'll reorder as necessary. There's no limit to the number of orders we'll accept before the sale ends on the 31st.

Hey Brian,

Question...

Marco is saying that these parts aren't available yet:
subframe bushings, front sway bar bushings and lower tie bar bushings...

Is it possible to go ahead and get a price on these future parts, and pay now?

Hi Roy,

I'm not sure what the time line is for the upcoming bushing sets, but even if prices were available, I'd rather not take anyone's money in advance. I figured we'd have a second sale to intro the next set of parts whenever they're ready. If I can anticipate the next question, no, I can't promise that the parts in the current sale will be on sale again when the next part #s are introduced but the next set of parts should reflect similar discounts.

Another trailing arm queston

Just e-mailed you separate Brian.

My notes say the A33 rear trailing arm OEM bushings are liquid filled. These ES units are solid HyperFlex material right? (ok, not solid, donut shaped)

The Courtesy diagram shows the parts that ES has been making for a few years (for the 95-99). The other part numbers in the sale are the newly introduced parts.

Only difference is price, I just lowered our sale price for the 7-3111 control arm bushings when I saw theirs was lower - not any more!

A very good question, it should have come up already but hadn't, so I called the engineer at ES who was in charge of the project. He didn't know either, because apparently they make a general assumption that the mounts will be primarily used with manual transmissions.

Based on what I know about the Place Racing Maxima mounts we helped develop (they have manual and automatic versions), I'd say they should, because the difference in the mounts we've sold is the frame of the mount, not in the bushing that goes in it.

Hey...Just ordered the motor mounts, sway bar and control arm bushings for my '98. Can't wait to get them and install them. Hopefully the motor mounts will get rid of the shudder that the act clutch, that I just put in, created. Thanks again for the great products you keep coming out with. Keep up the good work.

Chris
