i just got my brand new 2005 winter frost maxi SL.it did really come with the gold letterings which it dont offer in the website.i dont know how i got it in gold letterings i thought it would look oldish but it kinda looked nice with the white car...the first thing i really liked was the side mirrors has power folding and the steering wheel has heated. as of now i have 43 miles so i didnt floor the car yet so dont know the performance.but i drove it little hard up to 4K rpm and the car had a good response..i also have a 2005 acura TL and the maxi actually felt little more power and tourque.i dont know about the speed but the power was definitly more..got lot of than expected from maxi performance..what i really didnt like are the interior speed gauge lights..its same color as my old 1999 m3 which i had when i was 16.very disliked that..OK now im done bragging that i got myself a MAXIMA like you people...here are my questions..

1) WHAT ARE THE MODS THAT ARE OUT RITE NOW EXTERIOR AND INTERIOR.NO PERFORMANCE.

2)HIGHEST SPEED PRODUCED!!?

3)BIGGEST LIKES AND DISLIKES..

4)ANY PROBLEMS...?

5)WHAT CARS TO RACE..AROUND SAME SPEED CARS..??(VERY INTO RACING ON REDLIGHTS AND ON FREEWAYS (OPEN FREEWAYS)

6)HAPPY WITH THE MAXI OR REGRET?

7)I LOVE MY SH$T ALREADY WITH ONLY 43 MILES..IT FELT BETTER THAN MY ACURA TL ENGINE WISE..INTERIOR TL IS LITTLE MORE LUXARY..AND PRETTY..(TL IS *****Y CAR).

 

you have a 05 TL and a 05 Maxi. you lucky SOB.

 

I have the SE and love it. I broke mine in for 1200 miles and I am just starting to open her up a little. No problems to speak of and only dislike is that CRAP puny oil filter which I took off and threw as far as I could and put a better one on. Enjoy your Maxima, probably one of the best values for the money. Not to mention one of the best engines!

#1. little mods available for the interior. new radio panel for aftermarket radio, reverse glow gauges, sat radio, not too many. (non performance)

exterior: stillen kit, sarona kit, eiback springs, swaybar, strut bar. (non performance)

#2. they say something about 140. (I haven't comfirmed that yet)

#3. I don't like the front bottom grille, but I can fix that with a sarona kit.

congrats on the new max and welcome to the forum but you are going to have threads locked and members pissed at you if you post stuff about racing and top speeds . i'm not picking on you just letting you know...

 

jonnie - Bet you haven't read the driver's manual yet. Lots if info and answers in there. It is well worth a read.

Be aware the Maxima (like most cars these days) has a hidden module recording things. The dealer can plug into it and know immediately whether you have been naughty or nice. If you tinker around and disable it, you are breaking the law AND forfeiting your power train warranty. If you want to keep the five year power train warranty valid, heed the breakin instructions in the manual.

The breakin period is 1200 miles. You should be avoiding rpms over 4K during the breakin. I'm sure Nissan would cut you some leeway, but if you begin racing other cars during the breakin, don't count on Nissan to fulfill the power train warranty.

The 6th gen Maxima is a marvelous machine. It was not, however, designed to be a race car.

 

jonniewaka, I was deciding between 04 Max and 04 TL last year around this time. 21k miles later I have absolutely no regrets, no problems. I absolutely love the Max inside and out. The VQ engine feels better than the TL's VTECH 3.2 but I must admit, the interior of the TL is nice.

My sister is about to get a 05 TL, why do you say that the TL is a *****y car? It seemed like a nice car to me but never had a long term experience with it. Please tell me your experiences, maybe it can help me to convince my sister to get a 05 Max instead
