Are the Autozone batteries any good?
Do they have the Optima yellow top at auto zone too? I know they have Red Top because my buddy got one from there, but I haven't actually looked at batteries at auto zone and was unaware they carried Optima until I saw my friend's.
A battery is a battery...is a battery.
http://www.uuhome.de/william.darden/batbrand.htm basically says that a few manufacturers make all of the store (diehard etc...) brands. They are just relabled. Sears Diehards are even made by a couple different manufacturers.
The thing to remember is that the higher number of cold cranking amps a battery has, the more fragile it is. The plates inside and the connecting parts that hold them together are thinner than those of standard batteries. Optima's may be made with a different process. I have never researched them. But I'll never pay that much for a battery that starts my car no better than a generic one.

HAHAHAHA an autozone duralast and a die hard are the EXACT, and I mean EXACT same battery. Johnson controls makes both of them. The only other major battery company is Exide, and they make checker's batteries. you can tell by the shape difference
