i have a 96 5spd. im not sure about this but arent you allways supposed to push the clutch in to start the car? i just put the stick in neutral and then turn the key. Im just wondering why this may be
That is a safety switch, and you are not suposed to bypass it just for funn. That switch makes sure that you can't start the car while in gear, all modern cars and motorcycles are required to have a switch like that.

i had an old honda that kinda had the same problem. Car would move when in gear automatically even when clutch was pressed in.
I think it might be a problem with clutch master cylinder. It doesn't fully disengage when clutch is pressed in.

My 95 has always done that. I think the FSM says there is a safety switch there, but mine doesn't seem to have it. The first time I noticed this, I thought it was because us Canadians were smarter than you guys down there and didn't need to practice safe "clutch".
nothing happens when you start yoru car without pressing clutch. Your car just loses power when you turn the key to start. Go try it, it's not gonna hurt unless you do it when the car is ON
