I will ask again, but here: Will my car fail emissions if I have a cali-spec y-pipe and a random technology high flow converter? Or do I need to have the OEM converter in place to pass cali-spec emissions? Kinda hoping it would fly with the RT converter so I don't have to shell out 500 or so bucks for a new OEM one
Yep, just as long the car is completely warmed up you should be fine. Make sure you don't have a check engine light or else they'll automatically fail you (they do that in NJ, i'm sure CA is similar). Once you hit the normal operating temperature, cylinder combustion temperatures will be high enough to give you a good full burn...
Okay...so the consensus is that I should pass, even with a higher flow catalytic converter and a CA-spec y-pipe? While I'm on the subject, where do they look and what do they look for in the visual inspection? I'm curious because I need to get my car smogged ASAP so my dad can boot me off his insurance.
