My Max is an '01 SE with 500xx miles on it. Everytime I hit a bump I hear a slight spueaking noise coming from the front end...anyone have any idea what it may be? Just the fact that it is there is driving me crazy!

 

I know this doesnt help you but I have the same noise comming from the front end. I only noticed it since I moved to RI. (the roads were I live now really bumpy) I think it might be the struts or maybe the springs but I havent had a chance to look at it. Hopefuly someone with some more experience will be able to help us with this problem. I also have 53xxx .........

i thought it was the hood the other day, because even when i close my door, it squeaks, and then i opened my hood and shook it a bit, and i heard the squeaking noise coming from the hinges, or w/e they are called...but i could be wrong, considering this is right next to the front suspension...but mine is just really sensitive, and squeaks even when i put just a little pressure on the hood, as well as when i go over any kind of bump

 

i used to have that slight squeak as did many other people, you said even when you shut the door...sounds familiar ...try lubing up the hood latch a little w/something...if dont have anything try a little dab of oil on it

 

There's like this rubber coating that goes around a spring. When that coat gets loose or curls up, it creates that squeaking noise. I had the same problem. First, just press down on the front of your car to be certain that the noise is coming from the suspension. Take it to a shop who can lift the car and look underneath it and check the strut and spring.
