runs like crap

just swapped all the igition coils and spark plugs, unplugged the battery overnight to reset computer. now is been over 100 miles and it runs like crap. if i drive it like grandma, it's fine, but if i floor it, it revs up to 4k RPM or so, but then stopps accelrating, i have to really let off gas and slowly get on it for it to upshift and accelrate more. any ideas?

and for the first 5 minutes this morning after i started it, it ran like it was about to die.

Well you've got one of the problems the 2k maximas have fixed.(the coils) Sounds like the next one has hit you as well...The MAF sensor.

any other ideas? before i got and pay $100 for a sensor.

i just went and started the car and it was pulsating RPMs and eventually died. started again, pulsating again, disconnected the MAF plug, RPMs jumped to over 1k and it started running fine, but there's still little vibration in the engine. now there's a SES light on.

Didi you try driving it with the MAF disconnected? I did, wouldn't rev up at all. I'd say you need a new MAF. Mine used to sputter and stall for the first 10-20 seconds when I first started it cold...also had no power above 3500/4000 rms. New MAF cured all that for me.

I have the exact same problem, it's the MAF. I am changing mine out tomorrow at the ATL meeting.

got the new MAF from the dealer. why can't they just sell the sensor? why do you have to buy a whole new housing?

I am new to the this website. but i have a 2k1 se maxima. question is does anyone have probs with the SES light? i recently installed a CAI and a hyper grounding kit, and the SES light went off for like 2 days. Any comments or suggestions as to how to turn it off and keep it turned off?

put a new MAF in, have not started it yet. the paper that came with it says i need to reprogram the ECU. what's it all about? i though, i just need to disconnect the battery for couple hours to reset the ECU and it will relearn everything.

What kind of plugs did you get for your car? Make sure that all your coils are plug in. Sounds like what every one has pointed to...MAF sensor. You can purchase the MAF from DAVEB and for a 100 dollars you can get it shipped overnight if you don't live in Texas and need it ASAP. If the local AutoZone pulls codes, go there and have them pull the code post what code you have stored.

jut drove it with new MAF after letting it idle for 15 minutes, runs like butter, drives good and shifts smooth. no lagging, revs all the way to redline in all gears.

When the dealer replaced mine, they did a reprogram to the ECU...but I've seen threads stating that the car ran just fine without it.

Glad to see you're fixed now!
