getting slapped by annoying repair

ok, this all started last week when my battery and brake light came on. first i thought it was battery and went to get new one, but my max died and never made it, got a boost and got the car back to my dorm. then i look under to find the alternator belt have came off so i tried putting it back in and broke the belt tensioner while i was at it. next day, i popped the belt back in hoping my car would make it to a shop, but it died at a red light about half mile away from the shop. so i had to tow it to pepboys because they were open late and i thought they could finish it in a day. guess not, told me i needed a new belt tensioner and they got one today for me. then today, they call me and say the belt won't stay on because of the crankshaft pulley? and that i needed a new one. they have to order it from a dealer and it'll be here wednesday and the repair bill is running almost 700 dollars plus 136 for towing. what a great christmas im going to have. can't wait to see what else will go wrong once wednesday comes. one bad thing just leads to another...

Two small pieces of advice from an old man who's been where you are:

1) Pay a few bucks and join AAA then when the car will not start someone who knows a few things after seeing thousands of cars that will not start will come to you and give you some inexpensive advice & tow your car if it needs to go somewhere. (It's included in the membership)

2) Next time you think that it might be this or that, look under the hood first before you decide to run out to get a new battery.

In the big city what the AAA man knows is $$$, and he loves towing the vehicle back to his shop. Sometimes once it gets there, instead of $$$ he sees $$$$. As Tony Soprano said "In our house we change our own tires."
