Sounds like the clutch is slipping badly, you probably need a new clutch.

Take care of your auto problems in one post thanks. And please take the time to use the caps function correctly. It will help in getting a proper reply.

slipping clutch, I would get it checked out, how many miles on the clutch? could be an old clutch, or if its pretty new maybe your tranny is leaking oil on it causing massive slippage.

I would think it is the clutch. My tranny went out and before it did it made a loud whirring noise when the clutch was out, and the noise dissipated when the clutch was pushed in. Good luck

That would be a bad throw out bearing...yea, it sounds like you've got a slipping clutch. To check -- get in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th gear, get on a steady speed, then floor it. Watch your rpm's though, and if the engine revs do not match the speed at which you're traveling/accelerating, you're clutch is slipping. Try not to drive hard on the bad clutch, as it will eat up your flywheel if you let it wear down too much. Get it checked out soon.
