What do you guys think of this intake? The filter looks damn decent for an Ebay intake.

It would be sufficently louder than the stock intake. It reminds me a little of the frankencar intake

Those short ram intakes can actually reduce power. Check this dyno graph comparing a cone filter on the stock intake and a Frankencar intake:

yea, interesting filter design with the exchangeable element.

it looks pretty basic, and your prob getting what you pay for so don't expect much.
<<<---just thought that sh*t was funny

i was able to find a cold air system on ebay for around $30

For best results, get K&N.

Regardless of the filter type, a short ram intake reduces power.

Put a cone filter onto your MAF and leave the rest of the OEM intake in place, you'll get the noise, but not lose the power.

are there any dyno results on the loss of power with a short ram, because i was seriosuly considering getting one, but...

how much of a sounds difference can i expect with an OEM intake and cone filter?

crap dude, you ruined my day... lol...

hey now look all u have to do is get tie nismo air filter (yes i am a proud owner of one go figure :P) and replace the air intake tempature sensor with a resistor if u dont have the knowledge of where to get one it seems that u are pretty familiar with ebay so type in "maxima performance" and look at the resistors that u can get to make your car read that u are reading 0 degrees (they are listed under the +20 hp gain )
well yea your are not gonna get 20 hp but you will make up the difference of hp that you lost and gain from the intake and resistor and they are cheap so you wont have to spend boo coo money for a quality INJEN OR AEM intake to get the same gains

Those resistors are useless. Please post dyno plots to prove otherwise.

whatever you do leave the stock midpipe, add a cai extension to that, somone did a dyno on it a few weeks ago and proved a couple peoples beliefs about the loud noise, its actually the air bouncing, the stock midpipe makes a good flow or something like that.

just get the cone filter and MAF adapter. louder than stock and flows better too. the worst part of the OEM intake is the small snorkle inlet. Just hacking the box and/or cutting a hole in the lower resonator (under the battery) will yeild good results for free.

jackiss2888 just pop the OEM intake box open and rev the car. thats what a cone filter will sound like. much louder

resistor chips = teh gay

so a short ram intake will reduce your power, will a CAI do the same thing?

This subject has been pulverized beyond recognition. All the info you need is in the mod faq, look for 4th Gen Intake info (Part 1 and 2) posts.

but according to this new dyno data, it proves that some of the info in the FAQs may be flawed....

QUOTE about hybrid/short ram intakes:
Upper RPM gains are as good as better than a Pop charger and there is little or no low end power loss.

Even dyno data can vary depending on machines and ambiant temp.

if you do go for AM short ram, i wouldn't buy a "short ram" off ebay. I did, and unless they sent me the wrong one, it wouldn't fit... the best thing to do is to buy a PR style, and use the mid-pipe... works every time...

happy modding...

The plot I posted was two runs back to back, same day, heck, same hour.

True, but if I was to have the same set up and dyno it I'm sure the results will be different as the elevation here is different (big difference!) from where you are thus big differences in ambient temp.

a mid pipe is pointless and reduces power
