E-brake cable q?

I needed new cables for my brakes since my car is up for inspection this month and they froze on me a couple weeks ago. I called my local Advance Auto and they said they were $79 a piece. I then called the Advance Auto in another location, and the guy made me find my build date so he could look it up. My car was built 10/94. He quoted me $140 per cable. I asked him why and he said the 94 build date cables are different than the 95 build date cables. This confused me as to why Nissan would change the style of the cables within less than a year. I then proceded to call NAPA and got them for $67 a piece and he didn't ask me for my build date...i really hope i got the right cables. Has anyone heard of this and why did Nissan do this? Someone please let me know because i'm getting my car inspected Monday and I need the time to get the right ones.

I thought all maximas did not have 4 wheel disc brakes. That would make a difference on the cables. Either way I would like to know where to get the best price I need both cables on mine also.

i dunno, the guy knew that it was a 4th gen Maxima, but he was going by the build date and said that they were different than the ones built in 95, and mine was built in 94. I'm just gonna have the cables put on Monday when i get my car inspected and see what happens. Hopefully it works cause i live on a big hill and i hate putting all that stress on the park pin in the tranny.
