Ok, a knock sensor senses if the motor is knocking...correct. When it senses knock, it retards the engine, or switches to "safe mode". Now, I need to replace my knock sensor, BUT....it sounds like the my engine is knocking anyway (it doesnt run quiet. It sort of sounds like bees in a can...and I don't have any mods besides the intake) So, if I replace my knock sensor, is it still gonna quiet the motor and stop the knocking or is it just gonna stay in safe mode......I may just be rambling here, but is there anyone that has the slightest clue of what I'm trying to say? ....LOL

 

You're probly hearing the injectors ticking...if it's not that, and it's an actual louder knocking sound, you may have a bit of a problem.

injectors? i thought it was the valves. my boy was like.." by the way you valves are ticking sounds like you runing the car hard" i duno if its true but thats what he said

 

no your injectors are what your hear not the valves i would say nissan injectors are not quiet at all

 

i think valves sound kinda the same, but i'm sure it the injectors you hear

 

would it sound quieter if i cleaned them? ahh it doesnt matter
