Quietest cat back system???

What is the quietest cat back system out there that will still give a nice performance gain? Or are they all about the same?

they are all the same performance wise pretty much, muffler has about 1-2hp... as long as pipe diameter is the same, you are getting the same thing. for 95-96 it was the apexi, but thats no longer made. and you could get a sp2, which i heard is quiet, but i like my dynomax... BIG oval can...

quiet

I took the warpspeed b and threw a obx muffler on it and the mufflers wide and its a low deep tone.

GREDDY SP2 has a nice deep rumble....almost unnoticeable at idle. Sounds really nice at WOT. Just my 2 cents. Heres a backshot:

If you don't want quiet, do not get a magnaflow muffler!

I have a WSP Y-Pipe, Budget SS 2.5" B-Pipe with Magnaflow Resonator, Custom 2.5" pipe to Magnaflow 14827 SS Muffler.

try the warpspeed super-quiet catback system...call them up and ask for comparative decibel reading comparing greddy, mangaflow, dynomax... with their's....

the fitment is only crap cause you read a review a member on here which took it to a shop which screwed up the install completely and put a pipe on backwards...!!! if installed by a good shop, you should have no problems! but it is by far the quietest according to several decibel readings (just make sure you opt for the resonated b pipe and no straight pipe for the quietest and least ricey sound possible)...of course it won't be all stainless steel shiny like other brands...but it's half the cost...also, you do get to choose from 6 different tips they weld on I believe...which is cool

i was really damn close to purchasing this, but i read from jdm and a few others that the fitment isn't great. Also, he stated that it may be "too" quiet...

scarface. that exhaust looks great. who made the axle back? how do you like the sound level while cruising versus WOT? how does it sound with the AC on and the car full of people? are you lowered and if you are, does the rear suspension beam hit the budget midpipe when you hit hard bumps? i'm looking to further refine my setup. personally, i would have the shop weld the muffler so the tip only sticks out 1 or 2mm from the bumper. looks great though. thanks.

look... mufflers can really make or break how your exhaust sounds... but yet it only yields about 1-2hp... so keep your stock one...

the major gain is basically from the b-pipe and a larger diameter... you can pick up an aftermarket from budget (lss) or either cattman as others do, bolt it on and still recieve the same gains as you would with a rear section added as well...

that way, it won't be as loud, but you still get power... and it's cheaper...

IMO Cattman is the quietest and I've heard quite a few setups.

Stock '95-99 suck. Go with stock 2000-up Variable flow is the way to go.

I didnt see the questions. sorry

Yeah - it's really loud even with resonator. Cruising is loud. WOT is louder. Either way, you cannot miss it. Grand Mufflers in Marietta, Georgia did all the work. Car is not lowered. B-pipe might be hitting something... if it is, I can't say for sure, and it's not noticeable except for hard left turns. I told them to mount the tip as flush as possible. It barely sticks out from the bumper when looking down, and it's hard to spot unless you are right behind it.

The tone is great. The car is loud at any RPM. That can be good or bad. I miss driving in stealth mode, however it is cool to barely touch the gas and see people in traffic turning their heads. I pity the fool that orders an unresonated pipe + straight through muffler... that crap has to be loud.

i had y-pipe with a resonated b-pipe and stock muffler. it sounded like crap on a bad day!

Go with a 2k2 muffler (and cut the bumper). Thats prolly what im going to go with sence its quit but has a nice sound at WOT.

im kinda iffy about the warpspeed catback. I had 2 flex sections break in a 6 month period on my warpspeed y-pipe .

i got their catback, fitment wasn't all that great, and it's just basically a dynomax super turbo clone, so pick up one of those for $50, and have a resonated b-pipe made, if you don't already have one...

I've got the WSP setup and when I first got it, I loved it. Now, about a year later, I've noticed it sounds very ricey. Inside the car it sounds fine, however, outside is a different story. It's raspy at 3.5 up regardless of how hard you're on it. I'm getting a 5th gen muffler. I'm sick and tired of fooling w/ my exhaust. I should say though, I do love the butt-dyno results currently but the noise has gotta go. Yes, it's 2.5 throughout and resonated w/ turboclone muffler. One other thing, I'm a 5 speed and when I let off the gas and coast in a gear it really sounds horrible. I assume autos sound better since the car is always in gear. Hope that makes sense.

i do... sounds really nice... very subtle, but noticable. not ricey, not raspy... i wouldn't buy from them though, bad shipping times...

the muffler is a dynomax super turbo clone, so you could just get that and have the same thing, faster, and cheaper.

I have the "quiet" clone muffler....from WSP along with their y pipe and metallic high flow cat, with a resonated b pipe....quietest maxima setup I have ever heard and I have heard all the setups...the closest in quiet I have heard is the Apexi WS series actually which I don't believe they make anymore...I have even hear the new SP2 on a maxima in person...sounds much better than the SP1 but still too ricey for me!...which makes me love my WSP quiet muffler setup even more (but that's the case everytime I hear another exhaust setup on a maxima--makes me love my WSP setup even more...very subtle sound...very quiet...very manly, aggressive tone in cabin...haven't really heard it outside that much...wish I had a camera that took good video...otherwise I would record some clips for you guys...)....no rice/raspiness here!!!

i think i still like the borla muffler better. i think it has the deepest tone. my motor sounds like a V8 from the outside. no raspiness at all. so far this is the only muffler that doesn't sound like the others. i'm willing to bet a bigger, longer straight through resonator on the budget midpipe combined with a bigger borla pro XL muffler will be the ultimate. probably still too loud for the people who want a quiet setup though.
