Been running Mobil 1 (either 10-30 or 5-30) in my cars for a long time. It's expensive but I feel worth it, along with a good oil filter. I used this on my Toyota Previa which recommended oil changes every 7k, thought I needed it for that.
I normally change the oil and filter out together. Change anywhere between 3k and 5k. I know, lots of studies that say if you are using synthetic you can run longer but that's my choice. No problems with synthetics. I use RedLine synthetic MT90 in my manual transmission. Smooth, probably even more noticeable if you are in a cold climate. I'm in Savannah, GA so no snow for me But other's say it's great for the snowbelt. Been thinking of using Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil for my manual but read a post saying not to use GL5 spec oil in it (Daniel B. Martin???) So, am sticking with the Redline for now. Just changed it so it will be good for another 60K.

Cheers

handy......

As for oil, it's been discussed ad nauseum.

Here is a link to all of my posts, many of which deal with oil:

Come back if you have any other questions.

I ordered the kit from Blackstone Labs. My next oil change I am going to send them a sample. You guys want to do commercials for them?

a way to get a cut of their charges....

deezo,

I would like a copy of your results if you don't mind. Actually, just update the spreadsheet I sent you with your own numbers, mileage, comments, etc......

Thanks!
