Nice paint job. I cringed at those first pics...your Max was getting hammered.

A couple suggestions to keep it looking pretty....

1. Get a clearbra for the front bumper and front part of hood. I have one on my superblack Max since I bought it and it has made a great difference.

2. Wash and wax regularly...it's the best thing you can do for the paint. And don't wait so long to remove the bugs from the car. Remove them as soon as you can.

3. Find some plugs for those fog light holes in the bumper. I know they have them out there somewhere.

Looks factory fresh. BTW, approximately how much did the paint job set you back?

Also look into getting the clearbra material for your mirrors b/c they get chipped easily and the cups under the door handles as they get scratched.

Paint job set me back $1,486 and change to repair all the damage, repaint hood, both front fender panels, paint and replace bumper, and repaint driver's side rear quarter panel. Thanks for looking at the page, I've waited a long time for this.

P.S. - anyone know a good place to get the clear bra?

i've had my black maxima repainted too. I hear you man, i've had lots of damage done to the paint, and having it repainted is awesome. One tip which was already suggested: Even after one winter after my latest bumper repainting, i'm already full of paint chips. Now i'm not saying this is a HUGE deal to me, i mean crap happens, but i suppose if i ever get it repainted again, a clear bra might be an idea. The reason i didn't get it was because it was too expensive at the momment. Just a consideration for you, yet to me, repainting the bumper is free, and i don't care as much : /

Try www.xpel.com

Check your local area for an installer. Don't scimp on the installer because he can make or break the quality of the job. The front bumper is a difficult install and the person needs to be experienced with the stuff. The guy that installed mine fawked up one of the clear bras in the process, but he didn't charge me for it. He did an ok job, but his relief cuts were cr*p. It's still on there and haven't had any air bubbles, but it really could have been better.

I think the hood, mirrors, and door cups are relatively easy to install.

Your car is identical to mine. I have a 2000 GXE 5 Speed. Before I even took delivery I had the factory spoiler and foglights installed. The next day I had a Alpine CD player put in. That was it for three years since the car was shipped over to Italy where I was stationed. I loved driving it over there on the autostada. You can run flat out with little worry of getting a ticket. The only downer was the speed limiter (134) and small 15 inch wheels.

Since returning I have put on the SE 17's with the same Kuhmo tires, K&N filter and changed to synthetic oil. I am about to order a new suspension setup(tokico/tein) and some new tail lights.

Side by side they could almost be twins. I too had to get some paint work done to my car. The front was trashed when I left Italy. I was able to get the front and the back bumper painted for about $200. I am still not thrilled with my paintjob but at least my car is paid for. Maybe now I can install a Y-pipe and intake.

If you want the '02 taillights for cheap, check out carpartswholesale on ebay. Got mine for $51 a pop, and the install was like an hour. All you need to do is buy the '02 harness and new rear blinker bulbs and you've got a new set of clear tails for under $150.

Not sure exactly how many coats. All I know is it's got a 5 year warranty on the job, and he was personally recommended by the family mechanic, so I trust him.
