Sorry if this is in the wrong area. I want to remove dealer info from my car, its tacky and I dont like it! What is the safe way to remove the dealer info from the back trunk? Any suggestions?

 

I use a hair dryer to soften the adhesive and pull them off.

 

Mine came off like low tack masking tape by using the above meathod. A little clean up with goo-gone and you're good to go.

I second that. I own a heat gun, and alittle goo gone and you're all set...

Hairdrier, NOT heat gun. It may damage paint.

With using a hair drier will it start to peel away from the car itself? Like start curling up etc.. ? I want to do this without any tools IE blade etc.. Just the hair dier to make it peel away.

 

Will googone work on getting tape off a window? Some crappy dealer tape from a sticker.

 

dealership should take it off. theyre the ones that put that crap on your car. damn them!

 

If its a sticker, it will come off without using anything else. Just go back and forth with the hair drier until it starts to lose tackiness. Use your fingernail to pull up on one corner and then just work it from there.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!! When I bought my SE and they were bringing the car around I made sure to tell my salesman to remove any dealer stickers they may have put on. Ooooh, those things **** me off. You're paying roughly around 30k for the car so you should get it exactly how YOU want it, not how they want to give it to you

 

Luckly they don't normally do that here in California. If they did I would charge them for the advertising before I took ownership of the car or have them remove it before taking ownership of a car. I had a situation like that with CarMax and before I signed to purchase the car and indicated they must remove their branding on the car. I said I wanted it in writing before I signed other docs. They wrote it up right there and removed the branding when I took possession.

Make them pay for their advertising like they make us pay to purchase the car!

 

i don't know where that sticker is or what your talking about, i dont see anything on mine... maybe they didnt even have time to put them on since i got my car right off the delivery truck?

 

i can deal with the license plate covers, but that crap. I had an STS before my max. when i bought the car, they had the logo on it. I removed it and then brought it in to service for its routine maintence. those f@@@kers put it back on...LOL. I was like "wtf" they removed it and apologized. I said if you want me sporting your name, give me money for it!

 

i just used my fingernails. It was really annoying getting the dots avoe the 'i' off the car. But it was all done without any scratching.

 

That's my take on it as well... if you're gonna put advertising on my car for your dealership, you better believe that I'm gonna get paid for it...

Luckily the guys where I got mine don't do that, but I've seen a ton of cars with Curry's or similar stickers in the back. A plate frame is one thing -- that gets off the car the same day I bring it home -- but putting a dealership sticker on the back of any kind is garbage and should not be tolerated.

From the people that I know around the country that stuff is more prevalent in the North East than anywhere else though.
