99 SE-L wants to grow up into a 6th gen

I feel a condition coming on... new car bug. I am looking in autotrader.com and there are several 04 Maximas out there. Have there been any serious problems with them for them to be on the market already? Should I just go ahead and get a new 05... what are some of the issues between 04 and 05? Thanks!

I am thinking of a red opulence with tan leather.

ThunderMaxi,

You should come on this forum more often! There have been numerous threads on the 04' having strut problems, leaks from the skyview and tire problems just to name a few. I would definately buy an 05'. That color combo you mentioned is HOT! There was one on the floor of the dealer I bought my Onyx 05' at and it was BANGING!!!

All of my cars have been red with tan leather... First one was an 85 325e that my younger brother wrecked, then 96 Integra, and now, Thunder. I like the red with tan. It's clean and won't keep the car hot. BTW, do 6th gen windows roll down with unlock button?

Go with 05. Seems to be better. I drove both.

I think you're better off w/ the '05 as well. The red opulence is a hot color.

I LOVE the blk/burnt orange leather combo though.

Get a great deal on a used 04.....they lost so much value you can get a nice loaded one for about 21-23K. My 04 that I bought new has not had any major problems, do not get spooked. Save your money and get a 04....the 05 does not have many changes worth the extra money, still same great engine.

I'm very happy with my '04 also.

If you can get a VERY good deal on an '04, at least avoid the first 100,000 made (VIN serial # 800000 to 900000). There seem to be somewhat fewer problems with the '04s in the 900000 to 932000 (end of production) range.

See, I am thinking I want one with all the goodies, and the extra couple of grand from SL to SE put it out of my price range, and I want leather and sunroof. I am not sure what to do, but if I steer clear from first in the production I think I will be ok... or maybe I calm down my inner beast and go get a Saturn... The new car bug sucks when you are in Grad school...
