What did you pay for your Maxima?

This weekend I am going to look at Maximas and see what I can do. Could you tell me what the drive out and MSRP was on your Maximas? I know I can kbb and edmunds, but I want to see what you can really expect to pay. Thanks. I am a school teacher and want to have the best deal possible considering I will be really stepping up in monthly payment. Thanks!! I really appreciate this.

I am going to look at a Smoke with grey/black leather.

Also, do the Max's windows still roll down with the clicker? This will determine whether I get the black leather or not. Thanks!

For X-Mas I got my Husband a 2005 SL Drivers Preferred Package. He loves his 92 SE Max, so I know he will love this when he returns from Iraq in March. The MSRP was 31080.00. I paid 27886.00 + 1265.19 (sales tax, dealer vehicle tax, ttl, and doc fee) =29151.26. I thought I got a good deal. I got the splash guards and mats for free, they gave me a lifetime pass to get my oil change by them for free and a one year unlimited pass to get the car detailed at the WashTub. I got the windows tinted and it makes the car stand out and yes it does roll down with the keyflob.

I also purchase a protection plan for 5 years which I paid 499.00 cash. They put a clear coat to cover the paint, they treated the leather and the plan also covers tire damage. If ever he gets scratches, door dings, etc., they will fix it at no charge.

Good luck with your search and enjoy. I'm enjoying it, while my husband is away.

What a geat X-Mas gift! My thanks to your husband for the job he is doing. "Enjoying the Max" in his absence, I am sure, does not compensate for the concern you must feel day-to-day for his safety. I'll add him to my prayers for a safe return.

HA you can't use me as reference. PR=very expensive cars. I payed $36,000 for my 2005 SE, and it's got everything but satellite radio. Here we have to pay taxes for importing and goverment...
I still think it was a good buy.... they were asking 47k for aa Acura TL and 52k for a G35 coupe.

I got my 2004 SE for $27,990 with sensory package plus all the other fees and taxes. I think I got a pretty good deal. Plus I got the security plus package and lifetime oil changes. My payments are huge, though, because I only had 2k to put down that I got from my totalled Grand Prix GTP

Thanks for replying. I am debating on Maxi or new Pathfinder. I am leaning towards Max. I am pre-approved for $30k drive out. Plus I have to trade my Maxima.

I contacted the dealers through their Internet depts and got straight quotes. I thought this was a great way to buy a car.

I got my 04 max with preferred and sunroof, for 28.5 before rebate. I then bought a 5-yr extended warranty through my credit union.

I basically e-mailed all the dealers in my area and they quoted their price right over e-mail. Went to the one with good prices and the car I wanted and bought it.

Painless process

Got my Smoke 2005 SE for $30,500 including DPP, NAV, PWR SUNRF, VDC, 5 PCS FLR MATS and SPLASH GUARDS all options except for the Elite package. That's without TTL and including the $1,000 rebate, well at least in NYC for the rebate.

Just make sure to let the dealer know that you are interested in another car and need to decide. They will do whatever they can to get you into the car the same day. That's what happened to me.

Good luck!

I am trying to see what the dealers are offering. I just have read on here that there is a discrepancy between edmunds and the real world. I just don't want to kick myself for paying more than I need to. This info is great, keep it coming.

$29,922 for '05 SL, Smoke w/ black interior, DPP, Power Sun Roof, splashguards, carpeted mats, Sirius installed, dealer's "environmental protection package" (i.e. clear coat). Does not included extended warranty nor TTL. That is about $400 over invoice and almost $1000 less than Edmunds says the TMV in the Dallas area is. Used an internet quote as leverage with a local dealer. Oh, and I took the financing deal in lieu of $1000 cash back.

Hmm Sounds like I should be able to keep an SL Onyx with Elite package under 30k then.

Wonder how cheap I could get a dealer to go with Elite, Sirius and Nav.

sticker price 32,320. i paid 29,600 for EVERYTHING except VDC, SAT, and NAVI. 1130 for extended warranty, 1844 taxes, 117 tags. total 32,691. 1.9% financing. I used edmunds price to get 200 over invoice. Dealer showed me their invoice prices (wasn't allowed to but didn't care) and they matched perfectly.

I know I could of gotten better, but they had a bit of leverage since she arrived 1 day before (8 miles) and was the only Onyx (not to mention fully loaded SE) in the entire central PA area left. Actually 2 hours after I called to reserve it, someone offered full price, but I already had a deal set up.

Base model SE price for 04 was 27,050 befire destination 560, taxes, tags, extras.

Doesn't anyone have an SL? LOL

I got mine for 27,390 with preferred package (Onyx with black leather) and 1.0% financing. I didn't let the dealer sell me the extended warranty. After I bought the car, I called every dealer within 100 miles and told them I wanted 6 yr/75,000 warranty and that I would give the dealer with the best price the business. I got quotes that were DOUBLE what the lowest quote was!! So, I went with $752 plus tax and purchased the warranty outright through another dealer.

So far, am so happy with my Max! I am in Ohio, and I can't wait for nice weather so I can really wash it, detail it, and keep it looking great!

Am looking get Sirius installed soon, too.

Thanks, Nismo.....I've admired your Max and your obvious excellent choice in color!

Sorry to stray off-topic, but what wax/sealant do you use?

this might sound obsurd but i brought a lawyer (my uncle) into the nisssan dealership that sold me my 03 maxima right after scum stole myy headlights for the second time!. i threatened them with everything in the book to get my money back, instead i ended up gettin an 04 se MSRP $32,800 something for somewhere around $26k, also i got $19k back for my 03 gle with 16k miles on it as is. (the hood and fenders were damaged and the headlights were missing) so i think i got a good deal.

Missjane,
What dealership in Ohio did you get your max from? Also, does your 6 yr warranty simply double the factory bumper-to-bumper warranty?
Thank you in advance.

Um the SL MSRP with the eilte package is 31,500 roughly. I don't even think if you put every option on the car could you possibly get a 37,000 msrp.

Invoice on the SL is like 26,500. So it's quite possibel to get a lot of these cars for 27, 28k.

I really should be able to get a SL with Elite package for 29,000 + tax + title fairly easily. Probably less even if I really work on him. I work in retail I know how the game is played and you have to be crazy to pay anything near sticker price on the car. Besides a lot of maxima in my area are goign for about 500 above invoice now.

Actually just went back and added every single option that you could on an SL and MSRP is 36,100. Thats with the expensive navi package and sunroof, xm, and every other feature.

I don't know why everybody makes it out that the elite package is so expensive it's about 800 dollars more then the DPP and it includes the DPP package. All I'm really looking at is a base SL with the Elite package which comes to 31,500 really. If I can't talk him down 2,000 from MSRP I don't deserve to be in sales.

I just want an SE Max with Leather, BOSE, and sunroof. I want to get my Drive out (TT&L-trade+ payoff) to be as far away from 30K as possible. I will have to look at invoice, will let them keep holdback and take $1000 off for rebate. The one that bites on that will get my business. I plan to go on Saturday evening when they are a little worn... Wish me luck.

Wait to the end of the month so they have quotas to hit. End of month or first or second day of the month always best days to get a good deal in anything in retail.

What did the dealer have to do with your lights being stolen twice?

I think you can get at SL (base) MSRP $30,100 for about $26K all cash.
I leased mine (42 months) just before New Years with all costs (ie taxes, registration, etc...) for $388 per month.

05 Maxima Prices

I'm also trying to decide between an SE or SL with Driver Pref Pkg. Anyone heard of anything called a Dealer delivery fee - portion paid by participant (it's 2.5% of subtotal) and was quoted to me as an addition on top of Destination and Handling charge of $560.

For those of you with Maximas with leather - does it break in a bit after use? I currently have a 2000 Max SE and like the cloth but might be persuaded.

Everyone getting floor mats without paying extra?

Thanks for the input...

There are 2 things I will not pay for when buying a car. 1. is "documentation" fees and 2. is floormats.

Both are a deal breaker. You go pay that much money for something and they want to charge for floormats? Oh, and I absolutely will leave with a full take of fuel.

Back in Oct. I paid 23.825 for my 05 silver (auto) SE with mud gaurds and floor mats. Throw in $200 for window etching $240 for registration and $200 for dealer docs. Still a good deal I think.
