Advice wanted on Rebuilt Axles
Advice wanted on Rebuilt Axles
Any ideas on where to buy the best rebuilt front axles for our 4 generations? Definitely do not want anything reground or of inferior quality. Also, price is an issue, or I would have bought them from the Stealership. Thank you in advance.
if money is an issue there is a write up on how to refub them yourself, its in the how to's, other than that I dont know, raxles.com is said to have good prices, but those are new axles.
good luck

Yes, looked into raxles, not sure if they're new or very well-built remanufactureds. For 4th gens, prices were $140 for the right, $120 for the left.
My right outer is starting to split, so it seems to make more sense to just replace the boot, rather than a whole axle. The left side outer, however has split and separated sufficiently enough to spin the grease right out of the boot - replacement time.
Question is, is there a disadvantage to replacing only one side, rather than both at the same time?
And, is it necessary to drain the autotranny before removing the joint(s)?(probably in the stickies, i know, sorry)

i was going to go with raxles just b/c fellow members said they were good. However it was significantly cheaper to go with the REMANUF CCT CV HALFSHAFT from autozone. i dont know much about CCT brand however the axles are in tiptop shape and i've had no problems its been about 10K miles now. i would have loved to go with raxles, but now im wondering if there would be any difference. Nevertheless i dont regret my decission.
