Doing my front brakes.... NEED HELP!

My car is on jack stands as Im typing. the front calipers wont fit the new brake pads. For those who had done it what do you use to compress the piston? Thanks.

You don't need to remocve brake fluid usually, only in some cases. If you do, just open the master cylinder.

They also have special "tools", it's called a brake tool, basically a half-moon shaped c clamp, works wonders for the job, but since your car's on jack stands, you'd probably be better off with a normal c clamp, if you don't have one, you need to unscrew the caliper bleeding nipple a bit, and use a crescent and push the holy he// out of the caliper to go back, I had to do this the first time I did my brakes.

FYI :

No, the brake tool I'm referring to is not the brake tool that is used for the rear calipers.

If you are doing the rears, don't push back the rear piston. You need to turn it instead

do whatever you have to do to push the piston back in, it takes alittle force but eventually it will give and push back in............ not hard at all...

or you can get a flat head and use it as a rod as leverage against both side of the piston and try to squeeze it back in

i use a c-clamp and one of the old brake pads also. just put one of the old pads over the piston and clamp it down and make sure the brake master cylinder is open.

i prefer the c-clamp because those piston pusher kits are made out of plastic and break easily

If you're not already done...What i've found works really good is you bolt the caliper back up with the old pads in place, and using a BIG flathead screwdriver or pry bar, wedge the flat end between the inside pad and the rotor (access through the hole in the top of the caliper) and pry gently. It won't damage the rotors and works the *****. Good luck
