This is an extremely easy procedure, but I did mine the other day, so I thought I would make a "How-2" for it anyway to help out the site:

One trick I've learned: To dry the filter quickly, just put it back on the car and let it idle in the driveway for about 20 min. Yeah yeah, it could get dirt in it, but really, what are the chances?

I actually hung it over a fan on low for like 4 hours. But the directions don't say to do that, so I didn't put them in.

I'm not sure how long it will take to air dry. I would give it a day.

Wow! A day to dry!!! That's means I can't drive my car though... Anyone have a better suggestion to dry it?

Thanks!

This probably also applies to their cone filters right?

The obvious solution is to buy a regular paper filter to substitute until the K & N is dry. Thats what I did. Makes the whole drying process painless.

For me, I just put it somewhere sunny and breezy, like the porch between my front gate and front door. The filter takes around 3-4 hours to dry. Then oil it up (not too much oil, just enough to get it red), and you are good to go.

Oh oh,
I just did the procedure before readin ghtis post and I dried the filter for 30 min. Did I do it too fast.
Then I oiled it and put it in the car. When I started driving the RPM's were all over the place but then after a while the car became normal. Did I fup my car?!!!!
Can I drive it now?

Well,

If the filter is still wet, guess what's going into the intake manifold. I have no clue if you've caused damaged. But I make sure that's it completely dry. But plan on not driving for a day so that you can make sure it dires completely.

just cleaned my filter over the weekend after 20k miles. improved throttle response!

it takes a while for it to dry in the normal way.
I cleaned it in the evening. Let it dry in a dry and ventilated place overnight. If it's a panel replacement, sit it vertically (with the pleats going vertically, not horizontally) for better drying.
