leds in bose help
hey im trying to find writeup on how to change the leds in the bose head unit, i just ordered some leds. Does anyone have a write up, i know i seen this done anyone here know who did this or how.
I did this to my Bose. I used nine 3mm LED's with resistors. I used the write-ups in the FAQ's on how to disassemble the Bose radio face.
Once you have the face apart you'll see the 9 stock bulbs that are tiny soldered onto the circuit board. Put the face back on the radio just as it is, a bare circuit board. Make sure it is mounted properly and turn on the parking lights. You will need to do this to test the bulbs and mark which side is getting 12v using a multimeter, not test light. CAREFUL doing this not to short anything. Once you have the board marked, take the face off again and take it somewhere to work on it. You will have to de-solder the stock bulbs and remove them.
After that, you'll have to solder on the 3mm LED's with resistors. The hardest part is finding room for the LED's with their resistors and then to accomodate them under the refractor lenses and buttons. Not easy but certainly do-able and very worth it. Just take your time and you'll do fine as long as you're good at soldering and patient.
Half done

All done, all worth it
