99SE vs.00 GLE..... GLE sloppy.....

Hey boys, I went out to eat w/ my parents tonight for dinner and we took their 2000 GLE Max,I drove, and I have obviously a 99SE and I couldn't believe the difference in handling and ride quality! My SE right now is 100% stock and well.... we can assume MY PARENTS Max is stock. It felt so floaty and dogo-matic. It does have a nice exhaust note though. When we got back to my house, and my parents went home, I took my Max out for a ride and it feels so much better STOCK! So the point of my story is even stock, these Max's aren't that bad when compared to a stock GLE or stock GXE. I even thought my 93SE felt better and tighter.
Anyway, I just needed to vent...... So as we do all these mods to make our so -called crappy handling Max's handle better, they handle a hell of alot better than alot ordinary 4 door sedans.

that's because the GLE and the GXE have a mushier suspension than SE's do..........

What are the differences of the 1995-1999 GLE vs. 1995-1999 SE as far as suspension? Springs, struts? Is there a lot of things different or just a few things?

i jsut drove the 02 accord after riding in my max faithfully and i swear the accord felt like a luxury sedan lol. i was bracing myself to go over some train tracks that normally i have to speed down to less than 5mph to go over but the accord just slide right over it and the handlings... i cought myself going 80mph on regular road and slowed down, felt like 45 i lost some love for the max tonight cause compared to ALOT of other brand cars (namely honda/toyota)our suspension /handling is ****, need that doublewish bone, and idenpendent rear.

konak 97+ SE have diff steerign rack, stiffer springs, and maybe diff size sway bars?? not sure on the last, possitive on the springs and rack

The only problem with honda/toyota is that they have trouble mating 6cyl engines to manual transmissions; and you pay a lot more to get a lot less (performance wise) by comparison to Nissans. Not to bash them; Honda is where my roots are

?? huh? they move away from manual transmission cause people dont want them except for enthusiasts, and thats where the sportier cars w/ manuals come in. what is less performance? i rather loose a few ponies so my car can steering/ride better. because you can always bolt on the power, but you dont hear of people changing the TYPE of suspension they have, it goes with the chasis.

I modded my 99 SE so i'm on tracks now. After the addition of wheels/tires I'm sure it'll feel a whole lot better too.

I have a 95 SE, parents HAD a 2000 SE, brother in law is driving a 2005 SE. 2005 is by far the worst. 2005 has all sorts of power but the handling sucks. And the 2005 is simply ugly. 2000 was downright fast from 70 to 120 (no negative comments, I don't even want to hear anything about speeding). Overall the 95 handles much better than any of them...oh, and I had a 93 as well. Sold it (for the 95 5 speed) with 180k on the clock. Good car but the 95 is a vast improvement. 2005 interior leaves A LOT to be desired as well. Reminds me of the 88 and earlier models. I'm no professional driver but I can hold my own against the average guy. I would consider the 2000 to 2003 if I could find one with gears but the 2005....never. Feel free to bash me but changing my mind won't happen. I've been in them all and the 4th generation is the best all around package they have produced.

yeah even though its not all that compared to some other cars in terms of ride quality/handling i still love my 4th gen too, this is the first car i evre worked on myself. now a wieght reduced, 97+ SE steering rack, 3.5, 6 sp 4th gen would be even better though

4th gen suspention = trash. POS suspension and handling. its HORRIBLE

my 1st gen altima handles VERY VERY VERY good. i can safely say that u can throw it into a turn at 35 mph and easily survive.

i,too, am sick and tired of floating all over on the highways and feeling every single rock on the road even tho my suspension is fully stock.
